I have been obsessed with this video since Adri posted it in February. Just one day after I had (unknowingly) sung and danced to it in Germania.
I now know the 'English' lyrics largely by heart and plan to sing them next time I hear it in Germany ;0) I just listened to the song (have it playing in my flist, am replying in a separate window) without the lyrics and I genuinely hear the English ones. I will be devastated one day when I know enough German to understand them.
I refuse to listen to the real English version for the same reason. Guido has once or twice tried to tell me real lyrics (either in German or English) and I have to shut him up. (The subtitling of their eponymous song isn't as funny, but it has some good stuff about monkeys.)
And I'm a long way from actually becoming fluent yet! I've only been learning for 28 weeks, two hours a week! My German is still waaaaay behind my French. I'd say give me a couple of years and German will catch up with where French was (it's forever slipping) but I can't forsee getting far beyond conversational this decade.
(Also, it's not just magically happening - there's a lot of hard work involved! And headaches whilst Guido patiently tries to explain grammar.)
