Title: Hands off the blonde!
Author: carly21
Characters/Pairings: Nine, Rose, Jack
Rating: Teen
Beta: naughtybunny23 from Teaspoon
Summary: While Jack still tries to fit into the team and solve the mystery that was the Doctor and Rose's relationship, Rose and him are getting kidnapped and thrown into a harem. Vanishing virgins, an alien far from its home and an interesting secret of the Doctor's soon put a test to their relationship...
A/N: I'm not really sure if I should give a warning for mentions of rape or not... better do, though.
In the second chapter will be talk (only talk) about people who are under the effect of love potion like drugs, leading to them sleeping with someone they didn't like before. Not the main characters are concerned and that's the only chapter the topic is touched, but... well. Better safe than sorry ;)
My first story about Nine where he actually has to be in character, so critic on that is highly encouraged :)
Disclaimer: Don't own the characters.
Soft music echoed through the console room. Colourful lights danced across the grating and the walls, giving the false impression of a disco. Jack spun Rose around to a Glenn Miller song, drawing her body closer than most species would call decent in public.
“I'm gonna be off now,” Rose said laughing, disentangling herself from him, her head certainly spinning from all the dancing. “I fancy a long soak before going to bed.”
“Want me to join you?” he asked her with a charming grin before sliding an arm around her waist to press her against him again. He liked the feeling of her inside his arms, the soft curves that seemed to fit his body so perfectly...
Rose playfully hit his chest and wriggled out of his grip. “In your dreams,” she said, tongue between teeth as she made her way down the corridor. “’Night, boys!”
“’Night,” the Doctor and he retorted before looking uncertainly at each other. He felt absolutely at ease with Rose; her open personality made it easy to get along with her. But this man? He was still a mystery to him.
“So... what now?” he asked when lights and music faded and the Doctor still didn't say anything.
“Now we are goin' to make some things clear, Captain,” the Doctor said, spitting out his borrowed title like an insult. “You are here because you saved us. We've saved you in return so we are more or less even. That means I owe you nothin'.” The Doctor crossed his arms and looked darkly at him. “Nevertheless, Rose wants you to stay with us and it so happens that I'm unable to say no to her.”
He nodded slowly, understanding the Doctor's words completely but still being a bit confused by the obvious venom inside his voice. “No wonder. The girl is quite the charmer.”
“Don't interrupt me,” the Doctor said, glowering at him. He wondered briefly for what he deserved a treatment like this when the other man continued. “Rule number one for companions is usually 'don't wander off' but for you, that one doesn't apply. You were a Time Agent and despite your obvious stupidity, I do trust you not to cause a paradox wherever you go.” He opened his mouth in objection to being insulted like this but the Doctor shut him up with a look. “No, for you, Captain, I've got a different one. Your rule number one is 'hands off the blonde!’ And I mean that,” said the man, paralysing him with cold, blue eyes. “Rose seems to have a weakness for pretty boys like you. You seem a bit cleverer than her usual type, I’ll give you that. But one advice: keep your hands to yourself. If I find that she has become another notch in your bedpost... if you hurt her in any way, then I'm not only throwin' you off my ship. Oh, no. I'm goin’ to show you how many things in this world are worse than death. Got that?”
“Course,” Jack answered, glaring and already planning to leave at the next best stop.
“Fantastic!” the Doctor exclaimed, suddenly grinning broadly and shaking his hand. “Welcome on board the TARDIS! Come on! We have to find you a room first, don't we? No time to waste!”
At first, he was slightly confused by the Doctor's sudden change of attitude... but only until he realised his room was about twenty minutes away from the control room and he was unable to access the floor on which Rose's room was located.
So much for being loved and trusted...
~*~
His first journey in the TARDIS brought them to Xantan IV, a prehistoric planet populated by humanoid tribes. The original plan was to visit 'La van Gogh', the biggest art museum in the universe, but thanks to a mistake in the coordinates, they had landed in the right time but the wrong galaxy. The Doctor and Rose accepted the little accident without batting an eyelash, giving him the impression that this wasn't the first time the Doctor had messed up.
“It happens a lot,” Rose told him when he had asked her about it. “He failed his driver's license, you know.”
“Oi! That's hardly my fault. The driver test supervisor was too picky. Mount Everest on Earth, Mont Evenest in the Fonko galaxy--same difference,” said the Doctor gruffly before leading the way further into the jungle.
He wasn't sure then if the Doctor was really serious or not. His first impression of the alien (and he was sure by now the other man was an alien, thanks to his 'you humans' comments) told him that this person was, by human standards, completely mad. His moods shifted from grumpy to excited to angry and back again, making it impossible to read him. And thanks to the Time Agency, Jack had learned all about reading persons--no matter the species. But this man? No, he was a closed book to him.
No less confusing was the Doctor and Rose's relationship. The way they acted around each other, all that hand-holding, hugging and touching and, of course, the Doctor's 'hands off' order... all these things implied an intimate relationship. And yet they slept in different rooms and never kissed, at least not in front of him.
When he had asked Rose about this, she just blushed and said they ‘weren't like that.’ But why weren't they like that? Why didn't they do something about their obvious attraction to each other? Jack never held back whenever he met someone he fancied. Life was too short to let opportunities slip away like that. And those two... there was obviously more between them than just attraction. Admiration, trust, love, joy, warmth... he was able to read so many emotions inside their eyes whenever they looked at each other. Why hold back?
That wasn't the oddest thing, though. No, what made no sense whatsoever to him was the TARDIS itself. Bigger on the inside, rooms, corridors and even floors moving around, its high technology he couldn't recognise from anywhere. It made him wonder again about the Doctor's race. He didn't find the courage to ask, though... not after the man had made clear that he wouldn't mind him vanishing forever from his sight.
Some races were easily insulted when someone asked about their heritage, mostly high and mighty races who thought they ought to be recognised without a second glance. And judging by the Doctor's behaviour...
No, it was better he waited until he was alone with Rose and ask her instead. Not that it was easy to get her alone somewhere with the Doctor watching him like a hawk.
He wasn't by far the only man the Doctor was jealous about, though. After they had made their way through the jungle and finally reached a small village, they were greeted by a friendly tribe-a friendly, predominantly male tribe. The tribe members gathered at once around Rose, admiring her fair skin and light hair and offering presents to her. The Doctor looked more than sour while over and over barely dressed, well-built men asked her to become their bride.
Rose, on the other hand, seemed to enjoy the attention and declined every proposal politely with a big smile. When one of the men nuzzled his head in her neck and breathed her in, the Doctor apparently had enough and yanked him away from her. He then insisted on meeting the tribe's leader.
It turned out that eighty percent of this world's births were male. The Doctor soon was in his element, telling the tribe everything he knew about increasing the female birthrate. Jack suspected his engagement had less to do with improving the gender balance of the planet and more with keeping the men busy and away from Rose.
The Doctor kept looking over at her where she was sitting with one of the more handsome tribe members, who seemed more interested in touching her hair than absorbing the Doctor's wisdom.
“Yeah, I know,” Rose said after he had told her about the Doctor watching her. “He always wants to be in the spotlight, you know? Hates it when someone else receives more attention than he does. It's not jealousy, yeah? More envy because someone else is more interesting than him for once.”
At that point, Jack really began to ask himself if that much cluelessness was healthy.
His second journey took a completely different turn. They had landed accidentally (or so the Doctor claimed) on a planet where women considered too much clothing a disgrace. Despite the alien's previous claim not to be interested in the scantily clad women, the Doctor, just like Jack, couldn't help letting his eyes wander. Naturally, that soon resulted in a very grouchy Rose who was also laughed at by the planet's residents for her state of dress. After a mere hour, Rose dragged them back to the TARDIS.
“Human women, typical!” the Doctor said after Rose had gone to bed. “They love to have men all over them but when another female comes into the light, they get all sulky. That should have taught her a lesson.”
So much for the 'accidental' landing...
But despite all of these things he had tried to figure out since he stepped into the TARDIS, Jack was certain of one very important fact: he was having the best time of his life.
It wasn't the travelling in time and space or the adventures that made him happy; he had had all those things when he was with the Time Agency. No, it was the company of these two amazing people that brought joy to his heart.
Rose was the kindest and most spirited woman he had ever met. She was fun to be around, loved to joke and talk about men with him. He soon felt the urge to protect her against every evil in the world and it almost scared him how fast she had found a place inside his heart.
The Doctor, on the other hand, was brilliant... mad, but absolutely brilliant. Despite him throwing Jack glowering looks whenever he dared to speak to Rose or even touch her, he was friendly enough when they were on their own. He showed him how certain parts of the TARDIS worked and despite him insulting Jack's species more than once, the Doctor also praised him a lot for his technical knowledge.
Yeah, he began to care more for these two than he probably should. All thoughts of leaving the ship had vanished from his mind and he couldn't help but want to stay.

“This is it. Phinacolokopinada. Desert planet. Hottest one in three galaxies, or so they say... could be a tic warmer if you ask me,” the Doctor said, dressed in his usual leather jacket and jumper while Rose and he sweated in their t-shirts and jeans.
“That's it! I'm gonna go change now,” Rose said, turning around to the TARDIS, a thin line of sweat running down her face.
The Doctor shook his head and smirked at her. “Wouldn't be smart, that. You should do like the locals and cover yourself from head to toe. The sun is goin' to burn your skin.”
“Locals like that one?” Jack chirped, drawing the attention from Rose and the Doctor to a woman in miniskirt and what looked like a thin bikini top.
The Doctor's eyes widened as he reached out to the young woman. “Excuse me, but... shouldn't you cover up your body?”
The woman smiled while looking him up and down. “Why you asking, sweetheart? Can't take so much skin? I could show you much, much more...” she purred, laying a hand on his chest.
Jack felt Rose stiffen next to him and took her hand to reassure her. She squeezed it and looked down at the floor.
“No, thank you,” the Doctor said, removing the hand from his chest. “Just answer me this: what year is it?”
“5229, of course! What are you, a nutter?” the woman asked, dropping her charming attitude at once at the rejection and stomping off while cursing under her breath.
The Doctor grinned as he turned to them, paying her no mind. “5229! Should have known... by this time they have invisible shields all over the planet, keepin' the harmful rays out. You two should be fine... won't even get a sunburn.”
“Didn't you say you wanted to take us to 3229?” he asked the alien, grinning widely.
The Doctor scowled at him. “Whatever. This year is better, anyway. Biggest marketplace in the whole universe. Opened two years ago. Might even find a new neutron compensator... the old one has been a bit dodgy lately.”
“Wait... this is not one of those geek marketplaces where everyone is only selling technical stuff and talking in techno-babble, is it?” Rose asked, clearly repulsed by that possibility. He could only guess how often she had to endure the Doctor's conversations when they had to look for a certain bit of technology.
“Nah, divided in different sections, it is,” the Doctor explained to her. “Technology, clothin', jewellery... they have everythin'.”
“And it's safe, yeah?” After a short affirmative nod, a grin spread across Rose's face. “Fantastic! Then I'm going to change now and go explore on my own.”
The Doctor raised a questioning eyebrow. “And you, Rose 'trouble magnet' Tyler, really think I would let you go off alone? On a foreign planet? Not gonna happen,” he said gruffly, crossing his arms.
“You said it's safe!” Rose exclaimed, putting her hands on her hips. In a way she managed to look more intimidating than the Doctor himself. “And who is the 'trouble magnet' here? You are the one who gets us into trouble every time!”
“I'm gettin' us into adventures while you are always wanderin' off, attractin' attention and managin' to get caught in the most ridiculous situations. Do the words ‘barrage balloon’ ring a bell?”
“Listen, I-”
“Now, now,” Jack intervened, holding up his hands. “Calm down and don't say things you are going to regret later. I have the perfect solution.”
“And that is?” the Doctor asked, glaring at Rose who held his gaze with the same determination.
“I'm going with Rose,” he answered. “I could use a few more clothes anyway and I'm not really in the mood for that techno market. That alright with you?” He directed the last question at Rose.
“Fine with me,” she returned, smiling. “Shopping isn't much fun alone.”
He smiled back, once again caught in the smile that should be able to light galaxies for years.
“So, that's it then?” the Doctor said grouchily, drawing his gaze to him. “You two decidin' that without me... just like that. That desperate to get some time alone then?”
Rose's eyes widened. “Doctor, you aren't jealous, are you?” Seemed like the penny finally dropped.
“Me? Nah,why should I be?” the other man answered dismissively but unable to hide the sour tone inside his voice. “You go off then, have fun. Just don't get into trouble. Big city, this.”
“Don't worry, Doc. I'm going to take good care of her,” he said grinning, sliding one arm around Rose's shoulders.
“That's what I'm afraid of...” the Doctor mumbled under his breath, adding more clearly, “In two hours back here. Don't be late.”
“Yeah, same to you,” Jack said smirking, enjoying the penetrating glare he received at once. He didn't know why, but the Doctor looking at him like that made him feel incredibly hot.
“Time Lord, me. I'm never late,” the other man said and stalked off into the crowd.
Rose rolled her eyes. “Yeah... at least not minutes or hours... just twelve. Bloody. Months.”
He didn't say anything. Just stared after the Doctor, feeling all blood leaving his face. He couldn't believe the man's words...
“Jack... everything alright?” he heard Rose faintly.
“Time Lord...” he muttered with wide eyes. “He’s a Time Lord... a real, living Time Lord... Bloody hell!”
“Yeah, the last one in fact. Didn't he tell you?” Rose asked and he just shook his head. “So, Time Lords are famous then?”
“Famous? Time Lords are legends! The guardians of the universe, a myth. Most people don't believe they even exist... and I'm travelling with one. Oh. My. God. I'm travelling with a Time Lord... a real Time Lord...” He shook his head. “That's going to take some getting used to... And you said he is the last one? How did that happen?”
“Time War,” Rose said, looking down. “He doesn't talk much about it, so I only know that the Time Lords fought against the Daleks and they all died. His planet, too. The Doctor and his TARDIS are the only ones who survived.”
“And I thought I've had it bad. He must be so lonely,” Jack said, looking at the place where the Doctor had vanished into the crowd.
“That's why we’ve got to stay with him, yeah?” Rose said, taking his hand. “You are staying with us, aren't you?”
He smiled gently at her. “You won't get rid of me so easily, not now and maybe not ever,” he answered, meaning every single word of it.

“You don't want to go out like that, Rose...” he said, looking up and down her body. “Not that I don't appreciate the view, but the Doctor is going to kill me if anything were to happen to you because of your clothing.”
“You aren't my babysitter, Jack,” Rose said, rolling her eyes. “You saw that girl. Everyone wears things like that.” She motioned to her miniskirt and short top.
“But everyone is not you,” he said, giving her a lopsided grin. “I'm not saying that you really are a 'trouble magnet,’ but... you are attracting attention wherever you go.”
Rose raised an eyebrow at him, a small smile playing around her lips. “That a compliment or an insult?”
He laughed. “You know exactly what it is.”
“Maybe,” she returned with a wink. “I still want to wear this, though. I mean... Come on! Even the Doctor said the planet is safe! What could possibly go wrong?”
Twenty minutes later, with two bulky men pressing cloths drenched in chloroform- like liquids over their mouths and their visions fading, Rose really wished she hadn't said that sentence.
