His World
Wind howls around their shelter, a small house especially built to protect from the wild typhoons so very common on this planet. They are safe. Neither the storm nor the heavy rain can hurt them any more. They are safe.
It was close...too close this time. They nearly died and it was all his fault...all his fault for landing on a planet with unpredictable weather. They barely made it to the shelter, barely made it up the hill and into safety.
He reaches for her, pulls her close as the noise becomes unbearable around them. She is warm and soft under his fingertips, alive. Her single heart thrums first against his chest, then under his hands and lips. She trembles under his touch.
As clothes are shed, lips meet, the wind howls, they move to the small bed in the corner, sinking down on the too soft mattress. They look into each other's eyes as hands roam, fingers explore and feelings explode.
It doesn't mean anything. They are just reassuring each other. Feeling the other's skin, his cool to her touch, hers warm to his...it's to know they are both there, both safe. It doesn't mean a thing. Tomorrow they will be back to best friends, back to innocent hand-holding and hugs. It doesn't mean a thing... it doesn't mean... it doesn't... it-
Rose arches under his touch, his name barely a whisper on her lips and he stills.
It means the world to him.
