Sorry I did not see your comment earlier :) I really need to check this thing more often. I added you back as a friend.
Oh we have the same exact opinion on rated R movies, exactly the same. Even my mother feels the same. She was fine watching the matrix. I think she does not mind as long as it does not contain sex...as long as its a good story.
And you are right...I am a bit more open than most people, I need to learn to shut my mouth! heh
I write just to let you know that I added you back - though I wonder why you added me and how did you find me :)
Anyway... Maybe it's a stupid question but... why do you worry so much about these councils? If you don't see anything wrong in watching "R" movies, or anything else you do (really, if watching "R" movies was the worst thing people were doing we would all be saints), then I don't see why they would have something against it. It's not like you killed or robbed anybody, it's your private life.
Hi there! In case you missed my entry in witness_teens, I just wanted to let you know about Member Photos. Everyone in the community sends a photo of themselves to me via comment (or email if you're not comfortable with your picture being made public) and then I will put them together in an easy to view table. I think it'll be a nice way for all of us here to get to know each other a little better and put a face with who we're talking to. If you'd like to participate, click here and post a photo of yourself in a comment or send it to my email at rollxtoxme@hotmail.com. It hasn't been decided yet but most likely the Member Photo page will be viewable only by community members simply to be cautious. If you have any questions or need help with anything, don't hesitate to ask. Thank you! -Heather a.k.a. rollxtoxme ♥

I saw your comments by accidently viewing your site. I am a JW who has watched his share of movies, but I do know a few reasons for why we shouldn't. First, as a repersentation of Jehovah here on Earth, we try to be an example. Sometimes by watching R rated movies, we may not be contributing to what is going on, but by watching them we are condoning these actions. If you seem to be counseled on them, my advice is not to tell other witnesses that you saw them. It is your business, but if you tell others about things that could stumble others, it becomes a congregation matter. I am not going to lie and say I haven't watched R rated movies, but by trying to cut down on the number you watch, you'll see a significant decline in your viewing. Plus, you might realize you're not really missing much.

It is always best to remember though, that it IS a consience matter. I too follow the rule of thumb. You just have to use your bible trained christian consience as to whether or not a movie is appropriate
( ... )
Jehovah disciplines those he loves- we must remember that. If we get counseled, we are usually getting counseled for a reason.
I think "R" rated movies are a conscience matter, but of course, many of the things in "R" rated movies are things we wouldn't want to be seeing anyway.
As for college- it is a conscience matter, but in talks and at conventions we are being encouraged more and more to skip the higher education so that we can serve Jehovah more fully. In four years, we could get a lot of hours in, have a lot of bible studies, etc...
