Facebook and whatnot

Just wading in here with my size 3 boots...the whole Facebook thing.  Umm, no.  That's all I have to say really.  Like everyone else, Facebook for me is full of old schoolfriends, work colleagues etc.  None of them, save for CB, know about my fannish doings on LJ, and I'd really like to keep it that way.  This is a hobby, something I do in my spare ( Read more... )

i hate lj with the fire of 1000 suns

Absolutely! I just wished they'd given us the option rather than implementing everything and then dealing with the backlash. It's so...stupid.

I'm so confused by this whole situation but I don't have a facebook or a twitter so I'm guessing I'm in the clear! ♥

Hurrah for restrictive internets! (and this is probs the only time I'll be saying that) Basically you can link LJ to your facebook so ppl can see what you're posting. Also, other people can repost your stuff there, or link comments. It's ridiculous, and not something I want. At best I'd get the piss ripped out of me, at worst, I could lose my job. It's that serious for me :(

What you saaaid. Jesus I don't need my former classmates to find out what I do in my LJ. Or my cousins/people related to me to know I write slash fiction. That'd be awkward. (Then I'll find out that my uncle secretly writes Buffy fiction, because I wouldn't put that past him, but er. You know. Awkward.) And yeah, Lj + RL = SEPARATE, thanks. LJ, you so failed hard this time...

My problem is my job. If my job ever found out I wrote slashy fanfiction, I would in all probability get the sack because we're expected to maintin this incredibly professional/moral facade and cannot bring the organisation into disrepute. So yeah, it's pretty serious and stupid LJ just don't seem to understand that ppl don't want to link every single thing. I have an LJ persona and a public persona; never the twain shall meet.

You are adorable! <3

Personally, I don't know how LJ would know to link anything to my Facebook, since my account is linked to a separate LJ-gmail address, but I doubt that is always the case, so I am pissed.

Also? The tags. I can't look for fic because every single comm and journal lists pairings with tags that have a / in them.

It is a very sad day on LJ.

I'm not sure either, unless like you said you have the same email address or you have to set it up or something. My email's the same for both because it's the only one I check and yeah, that makes me very uneasy. I want the choice; I don't want to have this forced upon me.

Stupid LJ :/

BTW: Love your icon!

THIS THIS THIS TIMES A BILLION.

This whole Facebook cross-posting thing is absolute bullshit. Facebook, for me, is for family and friends who know nothing of my fannish self. They just don't need to know - I don't feel like explaining it to people who won't understand anyway.

That other people have the ability to "out" me makes me uncomfortable. Fucking LJ.

I'm just glad I use different email addresses, at least.

It *is* bullshit. I mean, some of my close friends know I write some stuff, but I'd still feel very uncomfortabe with the whole world knowing. Like I say, if work found out I could get the sack.

Fucking LJ indeed!
