80's Sword & Sorcery Retrospective, Part 3: 1983-84

A snapshot of a time in history (still in 1983 here) when the Italian film industry briefly stopped making zombie flicks to instead focus more on making dramatizations of Manowar album covers.

THIS PART ALSO INCLUDES THE LEGENDARY DEATHSTALKER. That needs to be mentioned.

Despite the obvious effort you've gone to in all these posts, few of these "post-Conan-boom" films in Part Three are screaming "watch me!" The chances are, I'll be able to get all the Conan films in some kind of multi-film package, so it wouldn't hurt to watch Destroyer after I'm done with Barbarian (and there's a third, isn't there?)

Otherwise, I wonder if Deathstalker in any way inspired the ZX Spectrum game of the same name that I wasn't very good at when I was a nipper but played it endlessly anyway, because a couple of quid in pocket money and a four and a half minute (absolutely standard) loading time meant more to me at that age than it does now. Even so, I'm the one who made the RZX Archive's official playthrough...

For the record, Vermithrax is mentioned by Viserys Targaryen (spellings?) which does at least date it to the first season. He's telling Danaerys about the "great dragons" that existed in the past... or words to that effect.

I've watched the first season twice, the second and third once each, and the rest not at all. One day, I'll get round to the whole lot, although I know there's more "woke" garbage the later it goes on, just to attempt to appease the SJWs.
