And of this last lot, the only one I need to see is Willow. This was nearly, so very nearly, the first film I ever saw in a cinema as a nipper, and yet... I was given the choice of Willow or (the apparently 15-rated... or was that just on video?) Like Father Like Son, which was the one I chose (despite being aged nine). Both films had a delayed release in the UK until December 1988 - so, just over 31 years later, I may remedy what pretty much everyone would consider to be a mistake. Also, bollocks to political correctness; Warwick Davis has done absolutely fine making a money-spinning career out of being half the height of a regular human - starting with one of the proper Star Wars films, despite being in a fursuit, and never looking back. He'll turn 50 in a few days, incidentally.
My list is longer than the seven you've recommended as a minimum, all I have to do now is track them down.
Ladyhawke is more of a "medieval romance" than a full-and-proper S&S or high fantasy film but it's still fairly good, though I'll agree that Legend is better. (I don't have a strong opinion on which of the two versions I mentioned is superior, though I would HOPE that there's some DVD or Blu-Ray version that has both.)
That vid on the Highlander game explains a lot of things in the vidya industry, particularly with licensed games. And thanks. Ah yes, cultural enrichment ought to do a job of starting to cure them of leftism. It certainly has in many other parts of the world.
Alas. If possible, I'd recommend watching Willow after all the others on your list, since, again, it's sort of like a "review" of the entire genre. I didn't rank it as high as some others due to its derivativeness, but yeah, you'd probably have liked it a lot as a kid. Ha, good point on Mr. Davis. He also starred in the, uh, "legendary" Leprechaun series of horror films
( ... )
Leprechaun is one of the films I've seen recently, because it was one that I had in a pile of VHS tapes that I replaced last year in a mass-charity-shop-and-CEX binge and had to watch again to make sure the DVD was working. What I remember from when I watched the VHS circa 2003 was Warwick Davis thinking that leprechauns came from somewhere in East London. A master of accents he is definitely not!
