Title: Stay
Type: Drabble
Word count: 464
Rating: G
Pairing: Koyama/Shige
Summary: Koyama ponders whether to let Shige stay or go.

If a visitor were to enter Koyama’s living room that night, the person would think Koyama and Shige were watching TV judging from the way they were positioned on the couch. Koyama was sitting with his feet propped up on a low stool, while Shige was curled up on his side with his head perched on Koyama’s lap. They were facing the TV, but strangely the TV was off. If the visitor were to look closer, it would soon be apparent that the two were doing nothing but enjoying each other’s company.

It was the only time they could do so, anyhow. During the whole day they had been whisked off from one photo shoot to another, from an interview to the next. They barely had any privacy even to just hold hands under the table or snatch brief kisses when nobody was looking. It was tiring, and when they finally got to be alone at the end of the day, they wanted little but to just sit together in silence and relish the moment. But the hours ticked by and Koyama realized it would soon be another day, another similar routine. He ran his fingers through Shige’s hair, noticing that it had already grown too long again.

“It’s getting late,” he said.

“Hmm.” Shige’s eyes were closed but Koyama knew he was still awake. The older man ran the tip of his thumb along Shige’s jaw line, as if tracing non-existent stubble.

“You should go home,” he said again, despite the fact that his very movements seemed to coax Shige into remaining in that comfortable position.

“Uh-huh.” Shige didn’t show any inclination to move, though. A few seconds passed before he asked the question Koyama knew was coming. “Do you want me to?”

Koyama was aware that the question also worked on a different level altogether. Did he want Shige to go? Or to stay with him, in this relationship where they can’t even share their happiest moments together for fear of other people knowing? Koyama had to mull his answer carefully because he knew Shige would do as he said. He’d whine and complain about it, but in the end he’d do it if it made Koyama happy. Making circular motions against Shige’s cheek with the back of his hand, Koyama finally said, “No.”

Shige’s tense body visibly became more relaxed. “Good,” he mumbled, and then adding, “I don’t want to go anyway.”

Koyama smiled, looping his arm around Shige’s body and placing a hand on his chest. Shige took the hand in his own and, twining their fingers together, pressed it closer over his heart. A light kiss landed on top of his head before he fell asleep, telling him there was no need to go home. He was already there.
