That is a totally sucky position to be in. But it is not the LEAST your fault.
Companies take two weeks to do ANYTHING... and, sadly, there are PLENTY of people out there who are looking desperately for work, so it's very hard to even land an interview. You must be getting responses in the next two weeks from some of the last applications. Plug away.
There is nothing wrong with you. I am positive your friends are not thinking that. If they are thinking it -- and if they don't have a lead for you -- then they are not worthwhile friends. Really.
It's amazing how quickly you can go from a confident and happy person to a miserable, insecure one when you don't have a job.
This is absolutely true.
Just one example, my guy is currently looking for work. He HAS a job while he's looking, which you would think takes off a LOT of pressure and panic -- but he still went through a dark slough of despond during the first two months, when he wasn't getting anything (Will I ever land anything? Am I a complete failure as a person? etc
