We cannot ignore Sudan any longer.

Stop what you're doing. Right now. I mean it, drop everything and pay attention. Despite what the government would like (you) to believe, Sudanese people are being slaughtered by the thousands in a GENOCIDAL crisis. If you don't know much about what's going on, I implore you to read this article written by my friend Andre Axver ( Read more... )

Which government officials are you planning on writing to? I figure I should write to those as well cause, hey, the more letters they get about the same thing the more likely they'll be to do something about it.

Oh gosh.....Bush, Cheney, Santorum, Specter. I'm getting a letter to the UN, and I may even find someone in the Bush Admin who deals with international relations, etc. later. Not much later- it's already been two days. Bad Caroline, bad!

It's just horrifying, isn't it? Even after writing what I did, it is still so hard to comprehend the scale of the tragedy and understand what these poor people are going through. I cannot believe humans are capable of inflicting such violence on other people just because of their ethnicity. I also cannot believe governments are just sitting by and not taking rapid steps to end the disaster now. I am so very pleased to see you are taking action. It's fantastic and the more people who join in, the better.

I just hope what we're doing has an impact. I don't think I could tolerate it if things got worse. I can't tolerate it as it is.

I found an interesting link yesterday by accident, and having read this story after reading your entry made me go, "Whoa."

Cuz that's twice in one day I had read about something I had no idea about before concerning Sudan.
