It's been a good year for reading.  My aim to read consecutively through British history has taken me upto Ricard III.  However in recent months I've been a little side tracked by some good recommendations from if0x.  Since May I've read (non-fiction in blue) ...
Alison WeirKatherine Swynford: John of Gaunt and his scandalous mistressVariousThe Hereford ( Read more... )

What is the significance of the ones in bold? Also that's a lot of books! I am sure I have read a similar amount if not more but seeing them listed like that makes it look impressive.

The bold books are ones that I own, the rest were loans from friends. I like to see them all listed, it inspires me to be more focused in my reading.

Wow, that's a lot of books since May! Do you read on the train?

It seems you like the Parasol Protectorate books, then :-)

Yes, I have an hour on the train every day, so that's the best part of a book a week.

Ralph is to blame for the Parasol Protectorate, he lent me the first two books in the series. Then I just had to know what happened next!

Gunnerkrigg Court is awesome, and I'm glad you are enjoying!

The Atlas of Remote Islands instantly made me think of you (and is a beautiful book in its own right, too).

My non-fiction showing this year will prove to be most disappointing - am most impressed with your progress on that front.

Gunnerkrigg is awesome. I wish there was something that notified you when a chapter is complete. I'm trying not to read Chapter 34 until I can get it complete in one hit.

I'm greatly enjoying my history books this year, it's essentially justifable soap opera!
