Ouch!

Next time I'll just barge off the bus. This morning I let a woman with a couple of kids go ahead of me and as the older one pushed against me, I slipped, half landed on the kerb and ended up on my knees with pains shooting up my left leg from a twisted ankle. It wasn't really the kid's fault. The bus was very full and everyone was pushing to get ( Read more... )

I'm sorry, you've used up your quota of falls. No more allowed.

Hope the ankle feels better soon!

No, no-one stopped or helped me out of the gutter. I hobbled away from the crowds to (metaphorically - I'm not a contortionist!) lick my wounds.

It's still swollen, but I can just about walk on it so I don't think it's broken.

I also realised that yesterday was Friday the 13th. Ugh! Should have been more careful!

I post when I've had an accident because I want sympathy, dammit!

In my experience, if you can walk on it and it's stiff and swollen rather than painful, you're probably OK. Sod's law that it should happen on a Friday, though - you'll be hobbling around all weekend, but by Monday it will have improved enough for you to get to work!

I just want to report that when I was knocked down in the street by a kid charging around a few Saturdays ago, people did rush to pick me up. I was shaken but not damaged apart from a bruised knee, which is still slightly tender to kneel on.

That wasn't really the kid's fault either - the father had been encouraging his two boys to play some game which involved them running madly around in a busy shopping street. I told him what I thought as soon as I got my breath back.

Ouch :-( -- sorry to hear that. I hope it isn't very painful.

I'd say that the positive bit is at least you weren't winged by a car this time, but that might be flippant, so I won't say it.

Perhaps after a couple of days, if you are still at the "can just about walk on it" stage, an x-ray might be a good idea.

LOL!

My ankle is still sore and I'm trying not to put too much weight on it, but it definitely feels better, so no trip to hospital for me at the moment.

Thanks for all the comments - makes me feel better!
