I just found out that Ingmar Bergman died today.  He was 89 and lived a full life, but I am still sad.  He was a brilliant filmmaker, having made two of my most beloved movies, The Seventh Seal  and The Virgin Spring.

Rest in peace, dear sir.

Höstsonaten which was INGRID Bergman's last film ever. However, I've known about Ingmar for a while before then because of his many Oscar nominations. He was very well respected in the industry. And I'm a total freak for the Academy Awards!! :)

Oh, shoot. I need to see that one!

I'm a nut for the Oscars, myself! I try to keep up with Cannes as best as I can, too.

I get so emotional about it, because I try to see almost all of the nominees for Best Picture. Actress is a big category for me, as well. I think I cried when Hillary Swank won for Boys Don't Cry. What an important movie, and she is the most amazing actress.

we seem to be losing Greats this year

I'm still sad about Kurt Vonnegut

Ingmar Bergmen was one of David's favorite directors as well.

Yes, I miss Mr. Vonnegut, as well. I actually saw him speak when I was a freshman at UGA. One of the highlights of my servitude there. ;)

Oh! Didn't know David was a fan.

Oh yeah big time - he's had myspace for over a year and he's made two bulletins.

The first was about this insane Executive Order (which I actually wrote, I wanted to get the word out)

Number two (the only one he actually wrote) was about Ingmar Bergmen.

I have almost all of his movies on VHS - working on converting them to DVD.

Speaking of being a fan... Wallace & Gromit? Curse of the Were-Rabbit is one of our favorites. I even collect Wallace & Gromit stuff. You can find it at some cons. :)
