John cannot stand the two kittens. He wants me to "do something" about them, i.e. get rid of them. I sort of said something about finding a home for Maurice, as he is the more rambunctious of the two - but Mimi will be lost without him. he is her brother, her pal, her only other cat. I don't know what to do. And I am sad.

Do you remember when Sebastian died? We went and got a little black kitten the very next day, and her name was Ashley. She was an unholy terror, ripping up furniture and making Charlie cry (or George depending on who you asked). Dad said she had to settle down or we had to get rid of her (sounds like the same thing he's saying now) and I told you then what I'm telling you now: cats are not meant to be trapped inside. They need to be free to run around in the open air, release their primal urges on birds and moles, and run themselves down so that they can sleep peacefully. If you let them outside, they will calm down

Steve hates my dogs. He likes the cats, but hates my dogs. Snickers the lab is such a sweetheart and so loving and Marley is just the most well behaved boy ever, but Steve hates them. When he starts grumbling about them, I just tell him that I wish he didn't feel that way, because "I'd sure hate to have to get (rid) of him". He doesn't like it, but he shuts up about it for a while.

I told Wil, who was trying to come up with suggestions to help the situation.. I said, "I can always get rid of dad" bwahahahaha. I read it to John - both my entry and Wil's rely and mine to him...since then, John has been kinder & not pushed the idea.
