There's also a job open at Bryn Mawr for which I am really qualified. But do I want to work in the suburbs? I could always live in Philly and commute. Best of both worlds

I used to live in Bryn Mawr! Or right next to it, anyway.
I love the Tri-College Library system. It would be a ridiculously easy commute from Philly -- about thirty minutes on the train from center of town out to the Bryn Mawr stop, and the stop is about a block from the college campus. I say go for it!
I've been lurking forever, as I admire your writing - but had to chime in quickly here. The other commenters are right - if you live near one of the Center City train stations, you could easily commute to Bryn Mawr by train and get by without a car. There's always one of the car-sharing businesses if you want to drive to the suburbs or the shore. Speaking as someone who never planned to stay in Philly and can't tear myself away, it's worth the cover letter...
