same story, different day

May 31, 2013 10:02

Lately every single inch of me hurts pretty much all the time. This is a direct result of walking my dog roughly two hours every single day. While that probably sounds excessive, the truth is that she could go a lot longer. She's got tons of energy and it needs to be burned off somehow. The two hours of walking really doesn't even do that much ( Read more... )

I really feel for you, being stuck in that kind of limbo, waiting to make a big change in your life. (I'm in the same boat for different reasons). I hope something does pop for you soon. I sincerely hope it does so in a way that gets you that bungalow too. :)

Being in house/moving limbo is no fun either, so I feel for you too. Hopefully we'll both get the changes we're looking for and soon!

Being a broken record never stopped me from posting.

But yeah. I read job advice columns written by people of a certain age, and want to smack the authors upside the head sometimes for how out of touch they are. The job market of today is not what it was even ten years ago, but the people with hiring authority don't really "get" what it is like for people more junior on the ladder, because they came through the system when it was objectively easier to get hired at something not-terrible for a livable wage.

I wish you the best of luck. And it could be worse, right? I keep reading about how employers won't even look at candidates who don't already have a job. (A rant for another day.)

Ah, yes, the ultimate catch 22: You have to have a job to get a job. It's ugly out there, and getting worse all the time.

Did I tell you that one set of my grands live in WPB?? No? Well...they do! In a super tiny little place that looks straight out of movie set. The attic is huge. I love the attic. I had dreams of living there (anywhere not where I was!) and turning that attic into my own retreat. Sadly, that never happened. Perhaps you will fulfill that little fantasy for me by carving out your own little retreat! Best wishes on making that happen.

Won't you get used to walking and stop hurting after a fashion? I never walk enough to know...Daisy walking isn't my part of the marital arrangement.

Do they know any library contacts? Kidding. (Unless they do, in which case I am not.)

No, seriously, their place sounds lovely. I look forward to being back on the coast soon. Or at least out of the horrible air in Florida. I'm having a really hard time with my sinuses lately and it's just getting worse, so the sooner the better.

Walking does get easier, but with all the hills around here you're pretty much always sore. At least you are if you're me. For normal people it might be a different story.
