not a job hunting blog

Today I got a very pleasant, dare I say sincere-sounding rejection call from a job I interviewed for over a month ago. The fact that they bothered to call me makes me more apt to believe they really did have a hard time deciding. On the one hand, I'm getting a little weary of all the rejection. On the other hand, I suppose it's nice to hear that ( Read more... )

The news keeps telling me that the housing situation here in AZ is "vastly improved". I'm not seeing it where I live. Two more people walked away from their houses...that's what the trend is here...and that makes 3 empty houses in my tiny neighborhood. Supposedly 2 of those will be rented out next month. I hope so. Empty houses make me nervous.

If I believed in fate I'd say start packing. Sadly? I don't. But I do believe in hope, so I'll hope for a good outcome! Best wishes.

If I believed in that sort of thing anymore I'd assume my complete lack of preparedness to move means that I'd get a job offer. Alas, so far that hasn't worked out.

All the houses in my neighborhood are priced way too high. If I priced right I could probably sell, though I'd be lucky to break even. Not that I care much at this point.

If I had much of a mortgage I wouldn't make any money on sale, either. The house dropped more than 75,000 in value. We'd still make money, but not much.

When I sold in Maryland last year, I had to kind of sacrifice the house, but it was worth it. I didn't have any more time to waste waiting for the market to improve. Meanwhile, my house was going downhill.

Hope the NY job turns out to be what you want and you get it!

At least they got back to you, and nicely to boot. Job hunting sucks and the older we get the harder it becomes. That was cool for her to send you that job opening. That would be super cool. I think the more inconvenient the timing is, the better the chances of them hiring you!

I just now finished submitting my resume and cover letter (which basically said "I am PERFECT for this job; hire me", because it's true, I am exactly what they're looking for) so we'll see what happens. I have stopped believing that it's all going to magically work out, but I won't get 100% of the jobs I don't apply for, so what the hell.
