I'm pretty sure I've already advised you to do this, but you should definitely watch Holiday Inn to 1- catch the original White Christmas sung by Bing Crosby (but of course) when it first premiered (as opposed to the movie 'White Christmas' which came years later...) & 2- watch Crosby teamed w' Fred Astaire (as opposed to Bob Hope) for the film, wherein they say numerous funny lines that sound as if they were ad-libbed -- and they are paired w' two women whose names I totally don't remember but I'm sure were famous in the [late '30s? early '40s?] when the film came out
( ... )
I love them both, tbh, because of course Fred Astaire, obv, but also Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney in "White Christmas". I mean, Rosemary Clooney. What an amazing job she did in that role. And Vera-Allen wasn't too shabby either.
Marjorie Reynolds and...Virginia Dale, I think it was? were great in the original as well, of course, but man, Rosemary Clooney. I Just love her.
But yes, I love both versions of the film for different reasons.
