Today is Jack Johnson day on the advent calendar. And since it's Jack Johnson day, and I've been writing that little Jack Johnson-themed series, I thought I would take a break from Yuletide and write a little CSI fic to go with the music. But oh my God, you guys, I did not intend for it to be this appalling. Talk about sappy. My little angst-

And I can totally see Nick's mom as the glass ornaments-and-ostentation type, so really, she has been going about it all wrong.

And Nick's dad would just sit there, watching her get tipsy, and wonder where he went wrong with Nick. If only he'd managed to keep him in Texas, at least he might have settled down with someone *normal*. A man, sure, but at least one who speaks the same language as them.
"Just one more, dear," she sighed. "That boy is exhausting."
I will just be repeating this over in my head all day and giggling to myself. My coworkers know I'm medicated, so they'll just chalk it up to that.

"Of course they liked you. Everybody likes you."
"True," Greg says, tilting his head a little to give Nick access to the spot just below his ear, but he still doesn't sound like he believes it.
"I like you," Nick says, punctuating each word with a kiss along Greg's jaw. "I like you a lot."
And he's pretty sure that's not going to stop Greg from worrying about his parents, but he lets Nick kiss him anyway, and that's good enough. He sends up another quick thanks to whoever's listening that his parents booked a room instead of staying with them, then he drags Greg toward the bedroom.

Oh meeting parents... while in real life it is horrific and petrifying, in fic it fills me with bubbles of glee. :D

"Sounds kinky," Greg says, cracking one eye long enough to grin at Nick's expression.
"Very funny. And you wonder why I don't go home more often."
"Nah, I know it's because you'd miss me too much."
"True." Nick runs his fingers through Greg's hair, pushing damp strands away from his forehead. "If we ever get any time off together again you can come with me."
"Okay," Greg says, turning onto his side to look at Nick. "I would like to meet your sisters. I bet they've got stories to tell."
Nick shakes his head, but he can't quite hide his smile. His sisters will find a thousand different ways to embarrass him, but they really will love Greg, so it'll be worth it.

Also, SLEEPY ADORABLE DOMESTIC FIC. You know, you really spoil me, Caroline. I don't know what I did to deserve you but I am thankful for you every day. (With or with out the fic, as you rule so far beyond just the written word. :D)

After watching Greg interact with the hordes of grandchildren all weekend, Bill has come to a grudging respect for the guy. He's always ready to help take the strain off Jillian (who isn't as young as she once was and really tires after a few hours of bedlam), and that alone makes him pretty special in Bill's eyes. Plus, he's never seen Nick like this. Glowing. Giggling, for God's sake. So happy. They feared their happy child was gone for good after all the trials he'd been through the last few years, but there he was. That smile lit up the whole room. Bill looked over the dog-pile of children and Greg to his wife watching from the other room. They shared a smile, of long practise thinking alike. It was good to have them all home. Even Greg. Funny. He'd seemed too different in the glare of Vegas, but he seemed to fit right in here in Dallas.
It was going to be a good Christmas.
