[Another light appears at the end of the hall, slowly making its way through the darkness. As it draws closer, the candle's carrier becomes more obvious. His face is missing the left half and his clothes are tattered beyond repair, but there's just enough left of the corpse to be recognizable as Ash.
Not that there's much left. His left arm is just a rancid stump and most of his torso is taken up by a gaping hole, organs hanging out. You can still see the jagged bite marks on his exposed bones. Whatever's left looks like it's been decomposing for quite some time, but surprisingly, he doesn't seem to be having trouble with the heavy candlestick. It rests on his shoulder, supported by his only functional arm.
He stops when he reaches Eiko, staring down at her with one sunken eye.]
A-ash? [ Her voice is hesitant at first, the candle swaying crazily as her head bobs, trying to find the source of the voice. It doesn't take long, given that Ash's own candle is fairly distinct. The happy grin on her features fades, though, when her eyes land on him, and her eyes grow wide ]
What happened?! [ Not as though she's in any better state herself, but. It's the principle of the matter. Even her tattered, soot-stained false wings flutter in distress. ]
You look... [ 'Terrible' seems plain rude. 'Like a ghost' seems to be stating the obvious. Lacking the adequate vocabulary, Eiko trails off. ]
Ah, well... [Ash seems to be at just as much of a loss. He looks away from her for a moment, then shrugs (awkwarding, considering he only has one arm).] This is how I died. But what happened to you?
[He distinctly remembered seeing Eiko alive the last time they met, so having her suddenly become a zombie was a little surprising.]

[ In answer, Eiko frowned, reaching up to touch her neck-- only to quickly regret it as the candle sways crazily again, making her grab it in a desperate bid not to topple over. ]
I-I just woke up like this...
I guess it's because I died too. But that was a while ago.
