Eddie, I must confess that as much as I admire the Superintendent, I secretly enjoy hearing you stand up to him.

That's a brave confession. You don't have to walk the tightrope between the two of us as far as I'm concerned.

I am admitting this to you because the Superintendent can be a bit too focused on his career, to the detriment of office morale.

A bit? He wants a nicely wrapped package of solved cases to present to the commissioner. Doesn't matter who gets taken down, even if they're old men trying to give their son a hand out of a dead end.

*a worrisome thought occurs* Has he ever been disrespectful to you?

Oh no, never. He is quite proper in that regard. As you know, he can be quite single-minded. No bricks in his path.

Eddie! Where are you, what are you doing?

Ah, good. You saved yourself from the obscenely graphic message I was about to leave. But, good girl. Screen your calls.

I'm in one of the Yards' cars in a dark ally - missing you.

*teasing* You mean Inspector Pippin didn't jump at the chance to accompany you on this surveillance?

*softly* I miss you too, dear. Will I see you tomorrow at the office?
