This will be the second part of my contribution to womenlovefest, and this time it'll be dedicated to the brilliant Gwen Cooper.

Uwielbiam tę scenę, jest taka niepokojąca i mocna, a to, co mówi Gwen - jak z resztą piszesz - jest dość prawdziwe i to jest chyba w tym momencie najsmutniejsze.

Yes, that's also why I don't understand people who accuse Gwen of being too bossy when she began working for Torchwood. Just like you said, she told them what she thought and yeah, they didn't like it, but eventually they grew to appreciate that. Pity not everyone followed their example ;)

Oh, I love this!

I've seen so many people complain about that monologue but I've always thought it was brilliant, for all the reasons you mentioned. Gwen knows she can't wait around for someone else to come to the world's rescue so she gets up and does it herself, time and again. How can you not love a woman like that?!

I honestly don't know, and probably never will. And, imo, this monologue is the best thing that ever happened to Torchwood.

Gwen doesn't understand Jack when he's waiting for his Doctor, because no one has ever come and saved the day for her. She knows that if she doesn't get herself together and start doing something, just anything, then no miracle, no mysterious blue box will appear out of nowhere to heroically solve all the world's problems.

Gwen Cooper is a doer and I believe she's exacly the person that Jack needed, when the Doctor didn't appear, again.

This is sooo true. I didn't like Gwen back then (I started in Miracle Day), but this was always her great virtue, that she does things on her own, not hoping that a madman with blue box will apear to save the day.

Yes, it was. I can't help thinking that she would make a brilliant companion :D
