Editing Education

Dec 22, 2011 06:05

I have recently submitted for approval the second round of edits for my upcoming novel, Finding Lisa.  The process for these edits was much more “intense” (for lack of a better word).  My guess is the reason for this stems from the fact that this book will be released by Silver Publishing, an extremely large house ( Read more... )

I wouldn't worry. It's the holidays now. My own edits for my next book are late. You may not hear anything till the new year so try to relax.

I hope that's the reason I still haven't heard anything. :)

This is the most significant edits I've ever done and it's been a huge education and, in many ways cathartic, as I move toward a time I will have much more writing time in my day.

Kudos to you for being open-minded to your editor's suggestions. Seems as though it's paid off. Despite being anxious, you sound assured that Finding Lisa is better as a result of your own 'retuned' perspective on your rewrites as well as her suggestions. You'll hear soon. ♥

Thank you! I appreciate the kudos. I've learned a lot about listening and thinking and learning from this process. It's been a long time since this former teacher became the student. I had forgotten the value of a quality education and how learn from those more experienced than myself.

I look forward to hearing soon. I hope you're right. *Hugs*

Keep thinking, She's right, she is, she is! and, if you hear by December 27th, consider it a wonderful Hanukah present. ♥

I can only imagine the process of getting an edited piece back. I so admire you for taking the edits in a positive way and seeing it as a learning process. Wouldn't it be interesting to have her take one of your other already published books and go through the same process? She seems to really want you to have the best book possible. (Not that your other books needed that, just as an exercise!!!)

It is the holidays; people are already traveling, etc. You'll probably hear something early next week!

I've actually thought about what might happen if I looked back at my already published books, but I am happy with my other works and don't believe in "what ifs" so I'm just going to look forward as I continue to write. I consider all of this part of the learning curve and hope to get to work with such a thorough editor with my further works.

I hope the wait is just holiday-related. *crosses fingers*
Thank you for chiming in! :D

I am guessing that the delay is due to the busy holiday time more than anything else.

Good for you- working with the editor and viewing it all in such a positive light.

Sorry you are so anxious- have a glass of wine, LOL!

Best of luck with this new book.

I'm thinking the delay in the final word is holiday-related, but I'm still anxious to get the final word. Patience is not my virtue. LOL

Thank you for all your encouragement! I hope you'll enjoy this book. :D

Thank you for taking the time to read this.! I appreciate you chiming as I share the writing experience. I think blogging here will be much more well received because of the ease getting to the site and commenting (now that LJ has fixed its glitches). :D
