Writing is a challenge

During last week's vacation I was sent more edits. Unfortunately my editor and I had a definite difference of opinion regarding the final chapter of FINDING LISA. The book, and all its edits (hopefully final edits), has been forward to the Editor-in-Chief as, according to my editor we have reached an "impasse

This has definitely been a challenging journey. Much more complex than ever before. I'm glad you've been interested in reading the ongoing saga. :D

I've actually learned from several friends who write more mainstream pieces, including for magazines, etc., that the process can take anywhere from 2-7 rounds of edits and rewrites to reach published form.

I hope the EIC will consider this the last edit and will accept my ending -- thank you for the great wishes!

I am glad you are standing firm. I'd hate to see you go against your vision just for the sake of getting it published. Hopefully the editor will see things your way. Curious, did they assign you a editor or did you chose one?

I truly appreciate your support of the book. I hope the EIC is willing to accept the final chapter I offered as her word truly is the last word.

The editor is assigned and at first it seemed to work until she kept making suggestions that seemed to indicate she wanted to change the direction of the story.

I hope you'll like the final when it's released. I do think it's better as it stands -- it's just the ending still up in the air.

Hi Carolyn Happy New Year. I totally agree with you on your point of the editor not seeing the characters as you do. I run into this all the time working on films in all the areas of writer, director & editor

Thank you for your supportive and empathetic words! This has been quite a journey filled with learning experiences and learning about the meat of the writing business.

I hope the EIC will be able to accept and understand my vision and hold onto my ending for the book. Her word is final so whatever happens I will have to deal with it and just hope for the best.
