winter in New England

 Hubby found this on the local saltwater reefing forum, written by a senior Boston Reefers member. Hilarious, but frighteningly true.

65 above zero:
Floridians turn on the heat.
People in Massachusetts plant gardens.

60 above zero:
Californians shiver uncontrollably.
People in Massachusetts sunbathe.

50 above zero:
Italian & English cars won't start.

lmao! this made me laugh. as a Massachusettes resident for twenty years, i can soo agree with some of those points!

and it's going to be in the 50s here this weekend and it makes me want to run around outside naked!

At what point do you think we become New Englanders? I've probably been one in spirit my entire life, but I still feel uncomfortable calling myself a local.

I think it's when we become as hardy as the other barnacles around here. Me, I'm not hardy enough yet... perhaps it's that I still don't own a proper pair of long johns, and my boots died and I haven't gotten new ones. But when it comes to the cold-as-balls wind and piles of snow, I still mutter curses as I slog.
