We're going to see it tonight-- i read on yahoo about them cutting the battle and the funeral. The director's rationale for cutting the battle scene was that there is a battle at hogwarts at the end of the 7th book, so he felt it would be too redundant..............which i think is a stupid excuse. He also said that he was thinking about working the funeral into the beginning of the next movie.....so maybe there is still hope. I haven't seen it yet (obviously), but i'm already pretty ticked that they rated it PG...i figured the last few movies would HAVE to be PG-13 in order to capture the true essence from the books..... i guess not :-(
ok so after seeing it, i thought it was ok....but obviously they skipped a lot from the book, and added in some seriously random stuff (what the heck was with the death eaters showing up at the weasleys?!?)...i don't like that they portray Bellatrix as being some unstable psychopath...from reading the books i get the sense that she is pure evil, but not nuts. i think the beginning and end were rushed a little bit--though i did like at the beginning that they made sure to show how the muggle world was being affected by Voldemort's return. Oh, and Dumbledore's death scene was just as powerful as i thought it should be...though, i do agree, that the whole scene made no sense...there's death eaters...but how do we know that? you have to have read the books in order to understand everything that was going on.... and i think they didn't do a very good job with Greyback's character....they made him out to be a death eater...when he isn't..
