So i just woke up and started reading a community post about the gray areas of age of sexual consent laws, and threw my following two cents in, and even though it's not entirely coherent, i wanted to toss it up on my personal journal to see if any of you wanted to add to the conversation ( Read more... )

I very much agree with your point of view.
I too lost my virginity at eighteen. But not only because it was when it was appropriate for me but also because I felt like I finally "had permission" to do so without feeling crappy or feeling like a hoe or anything silly like that.
I keep trying to continue with thought and what have you but you pretty much summed it up for me. I agree with you totally.

It's kind of a hard point to convey without sounding like a sicko or something I think. Because teenage girls are made to believe it's wrong to be sexual. And any opinion other then that is viewed as bad.

The laws and selection of the number 18 are really arbitrary and the hard part is...they don't align with evolutionary controlled urges around procreation.

At any rate I fully agree with you that we need to focus on critical thinking and intelligent decision making around the choices people face at ALL ages.
