Thank you for sharing your incredible photos, brain, and self with the internets. I was particularly happy to read "Figuring out how to adequately care for Libby is a major goal for the new year." You give so much of yourself to others, both through the friendship you offer to so many and through your art (which generously reflects back to the world the beauty you work to find in it). I'm so glad to see that these qualities of giving and support are ones that you plan to direct inward as well, caring for yourself with the same dedication that you give to your friends, your loved ones, and your community.
Yes, the above was totally shmoopy. A little dollop of earnest shmoop never hurt nobody.
1) Definitely something I need to do, and advice I have heard A LOT from busy friends. I am for it. 2) I suck at writing in journals that aren't public, but I'm going to make an effort to try again. Checking in seems to be a good idea--I often forget to ask myself how I am.
"In May, I lost my 'real job' and have freelanced (read: struggled) since. However, as demoralizing as it’s been to be on a low income, it’s forced me to bust ass and really take the photography and design bull by the horns."
Many of us are in the same boat. You mention the DIY ethos and times like this really put people to the test in that regard. It's funny how those who are the most creative are seemingly finding ways to not only survive but create more. Maybe everybody losing their day-jobs will result in something our society needs more than bread for tomorrow.
Word up. I totally agree--so many of my friends have been down on their luck over the past year, but it's really taught us the value of fighting the good fight. And I have survived and created more, for sure.

Have you any suggestions for ways I can take care of myself? It's kind of a baffling concept for me so I'm taking a poll. What do you do?
