Now I'm not interested in stepping on anyone's toes or starting any debates.  If people read this and they want to talk more about it calmly and RATIONALLY, that is totally fine with me.  I'm simply doing this for myself to outline and organize my thoughts and I'm doing it a little bit for you in case I spark any thoughts you may not have ( Read more... )

Haha! Have no fear, toddo. I took no offense. Your arguments were rather rational, and I appreciate the opposing opinions. In fact, I was kind of hoping to get some LOGICAL reasons why people were voting for Obama because I haven't heard any yet. So thanks.

You made very good points about things I hadn't thought about yet, so rest assured I'll reevalutate my thoughts. No promises though that I'll reconsider who I'm voting for. But seriously, thanks. Your comment helped a lot and I hope I get a few more like it.

I lurve you, too, Toddo!

Just a few thoughts on the health care comments. I don't blame our nation for people not having insurance either but this issue is a major national problem, therefore, the government needs to deal with it. Fortunatly for you not having insurance isn't too big of a deal right now, save the occasional UTI, you are young and healthy. However, I would say that the majority of the uninsured are not so lucky. Many of them have chronic illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease, HIV, etc. These are chronic conditions that need continuing care ( ... )

You guys do make excellent points, and even motivated me to do a little more research and ask myself a couple of questions on the issues you brought up, but I'm still not convinced ( ... )

Thanks for laying out some of these issues for me guys. I typically just choose to not care about politics at all because in the long run it seems that politicians just say whatever they want to in order to get elected and then screw everyone over in the long run. But, unfortunately, it's hard for anyone to think in the long term, especially when our country and the world is so wrought with problems RIGHT NOW. Hopefully I'll be able to make an informed decision by election day. Otherwise I'll just vote for proposals on the ballot and forgo voting for potentially biased and corrupt people.
