What's the point of studying ancient cultures we know barely anything about? Everytime I read anything about Babylonian culture, it's either "this is so alien we really don't understand what the hell it's talking about" or "we would be able to get it but half of the text is missing." There's actually an exhibit at the British Museum right now on Babylon... but it was sold out yesterday so I didn't get to see it. :(.

I haven't read anything about Babylon in particular, but whenever I read about ancient cultures, even though they do many strange things, I think there is always some common human theme or element. I mean, I know studying Ancient Greece isn't really going that far back, but it's really interesting to me to read things written at the time, and realize that they think the same thoughts we think now.

But I guess your point is that with Babylon, we CAN'T see any commonalities?
