While his is perhaps the more intuitive answer, in mathematics infinity isn't a quantifiably 'real number' in the way

Well we have to handle infinity rigorously somehow, otherwise we wouldn't be able to fuck around with it and make it do cool things. Like 0.999.. doesn't actually get to 1 just as you can't actually calculate infinitely many digits:p
