I do think that having school-age children instead of toddlers makes a big difference in terms of being able to see your friends. I know Mike's job is so specialized that it's not like there are a ton of employers for him to pick from but hopefully he can find something that would mean you guys have some choices in terms of moving.

That doesn't sound like a healthy, nurturing environment to bring up a family. Goopd luck with your plans to move somewhere that you like.

The cliques will be everywhere, especially with PTA people. Some of these people never move on from grade school mentality.
