The next morning in Mexico, I’m sitting on the balcony waiting for Em to wake up. The vendors have only just started setting up their tables on the narrow beach front that’s owned by the Mexican government and not the hotels. There are trays of sunglasses, bracelets made of yarn, wooden carvings, tourist trinkets. There are women selling blankets

I'm crying for you because I know a lot about these pains. The pain of children growing up and moving on, the pain of losing a beloved friend. I'm sorry for your loss. Why can't our furry friends live longer? They live long enough for us to know we can't live without them. I'm sorry the world is without your sweet Scotty now, but I believe you will see him again.
