My first exposure to old country was from my grandfather.. he used to play Johnny Cash on his guitar, but I didn't realize it until I was much, much older. The first time I remember listening to "Folsom Prison Blues", I about fell over - why, that was grandpa's favorite guitar song to play. I just never knew it.
My first exposure to Patsy Cline wasn't actually Patsy Cline herself, but an old 8-track tape we had of Loretta Lynn singing Patsy Cline. I loved every bit of it. I still do. :)
Always loved Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn as well as Tammy Wynette and Connie Francis and Cash. When I was little I had this book of country stars that were really famous in the 50s and 60s. There were quire a few country singers who has that cross over sound then. I still like the songs when I hear them.
