After her rather strange and adventuresome night Alexia had of course consulted with her dearest friend Ivy Hisselpenny. Of course it had been more gossiping than consulting as Ivy was rather shocked about all she had to share and had little to no advice on the matter. However, it had done her some good to confess to someone trusted about her ( Read more... )

Sebastian had much to do to prepare for his call, so as not to arouse too much suspicion or irritation in his master. Alexia had of course informed her trusted butler Floote of Sebastian's visit, so he would be the one to escort him to the parlor. After Alexia rose to greet her guest she asked for him to bring them both tea. With a nod Floote left to do as was requested of him.

Sebastian tried not to look too hard at Floote as he sat. It might be rude to criticize another's technique and polish, particularly when Sebastian wasn't playing the butler at the moment. Though he couldn't help but look, despite his best efforts, eyebrows furrowing slightly.

He took the indicated seat, leaving the package for the butler to open, cut and serve along with their tea.

"You have a lovely home," he offered pleasantly. "Are you the head of the household?" He didn't have a clear sense of whether Alexis was titled, or what her status was, precisely, and he was curious to learn more about her life.

"Oh no," Alexia replied with a subtle shake of her head. "That would be my stepfather, The Squire Loontwill."

As Floote was the very best at what he did, at least in Alexia's London. He was swift to return with the cake and tea. Alexia thanked him and dismissed him until he was needed again. Of course knowing Floote as she did, he suspect he would stay close to the parlor should any trouble arise. There had been quite a lot as of late, after all.
