Wesley the Owl. Non-fiction. Along the lines of the pig book but sweeter and a bit nerdier. And you won't feel bad about eating owls. Unless you currently eat owls.
Those both look great! Thanks!! Mmmmm, delicious, delicious owls.
With Christopher Hogwood, and the Omnivore's Dilemma, and Fast Food Nation, I'm really surprised I'm able to eat anything anymore! That big pig was so wonderful though (and I don't mean tasting). I loved that lots of people in the town brought him scraps, even the restaurant sorting out his favorites bits of food, so cute!
I'm trying to get rid of some books before I move in the spring. Do you want me to send you some from the Pulitzer list? I've gotten way too many off bookmooch, more than I can read before I move across the country. I would really love for them to go to a good home. Just let me know.
I actually, now that I'm looking at it, already have a bunch that I just haven't read: The Stone Diaries, The Known World, Ironweed, A Confederacy of Dunces, Gone With The Wind, The Good Earth, The Town, The Collected Stories of Jean Stafford, The Grapes of Wrath, and Tales of the South Pacific. Then the ones I've read are all there on goodreads. If you have any that I don't and you'd rather send them than pack them, that would be amazing, thank you!!
That's another shitty thing about not having that library of my dreams yet--there will be a lot of moving between now and then, and books are the worst to move. If when you get to your new place you find you've got some shelves to fill, let me know, I've got plenty I could send your way :)
Ok, cool - I definitely have some stuff on your to-read list, so I'll cross-reference on GR before I send them, with your quilt blocks. I could put them all up on book mooch, but individual shipping on each one would be so expensive! I'd rather just send out bundles to people.
I know what you mean about books. Between craft books, signed hardbacks, and what I can't bear to unload, I'll still have too many. It's just so easy to get books for cheap/free, I can't justify keeping everything I have lying around. Even though I haven't read most of it!
That is awesome, thank you so much! I know, bookmooch is great and all, but it's a slow, kind of annoying process. My favorite method right now of unloading books is bringing them into work and permanently lending them out to coworkers. Even so, my shelf at work has a bunch of books I haven't read yet, that I keep there in case I need a new one for my trip home!
And you're up in the bee in January right? I'm excited to see what you've got planned.
oh i love this entry! i'm so glad you liked dalva. it's one of my favorite books.
this year i became completely obsessed with and devoured the girl with the dragon tattoo. then i read the two books that followed in the series (actually ordering the 3rd one from the u.k. because it isn't out in the states until summer 2010). this isn't a series for everyone, as it's a mystery novel and normally i don't get in to that much. but i loveloveloved the main character.
right now, i'm reading a children's book called the magician's elephant which is lovely so far.
i think i might register for that goodreads site. dont think ive ever seen it before.
Yay, thanks for the recommendations! You also suggested Watership Down last year, and I still need to read that!
I think I loved the Watchmen the most. I was never a comic book girl, but I fell right into that, and it was a ton of fun. Also, if you've never read anything by Anne Tyler, I'd recommend that. I read Breathing Lessons and The Accidental Tourist (the best) last year, and this year I read Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant and right now I'm reading Saint Maybe. They're all basically stories about families in Baltimore, and they're really nice. I'm not sure why I like her so much, but I do!

Here's more:
The Elegance of the Hedgehog. Fiction. Not about animals.

I loved Christopher Hogwood, but admit I was a bit grossed out by Pig Spa.
