Update.... 'cause I should do this from time to time.

Let's see, I haven't done an update since ... August last year.

So around mid-January I managed to injure my finger ... left hand, middle finger. The injury is called Mallet Finger. It's apparently one of the easiest injuries to occur, and takes one of the longest to heal. Great. Supposedly my finger would have healed faster if I had actually broken it.

As the wikipedia article seems somewhat lacking in describing it in non-technical terms, here's what the injury entails: You know the tendons that go along the back of your fingers, that allow you to fully straighten your fingers? I managed to hit my hand in a way that ended up ripping the tendons off the bone (and took a bone fragment with it.) So I could straighten the whole finger up until the final joint, at which point it would just droop down.

So it's taken 18 weeks to finally heal. 6 weeks with it fully immobilized, 6 weeks with it immobilized but doing exercises every hour (making a fist 10 times), and then finally 6 weeks with it immobilized while I sleep. However I was able to learn that should I lose my left middle finger, I can still type approx 75 words per minute. Of course, I'm so glad to have it healed now so that I can play guitar and piano. It's amazing how much I missed being able to play both the guitar & piano in just 3 months. Of course, I did try playing the piano while my finger was in the splint full time still -- and it really depended on what I was trying to play as to how successful I was (if I didn't need that finger, it was fine. If I did ... it didn't work well.)

Also in "news" Shannon and I have split up, and she has moved out back into her parent's house. Things are pretty amicable between us, and Shannon left at the house many things that she rightfully could have taken with her so that I would still have a "working" house (stuff like dishes, lawn mower, etc.)

In a more upbeat bit of news, I have new bodies in my house now! Say hellow to Serena and Roxxy!
