Eeeeeeee!
Wow... haven't felt this giddy in a while. Not *exactly* sure why, but if I were to guess at a reason, I'd go with a combination of: alcohol (only 2 coolers), headache (combination of the alcohol & being in front of speakers used for LOUD karaoke), and having met someone new that I like.
Probably a fair bit of the last one. ^_^
So I was at a bar tonight as part of a farewell party for a friend of mine (Sean) who is moving out east to Nova Scotia in about 2 weeks. I've known Sean (and his twin Scott) since middle school. So, when his brother told me that I was going to go to the bar for the party earlier this week, I naturally agreed. The thing is, I only really know a handful of the people that they know, some by face, some just by reputation/stories being told about them. So I was expecting to go, and not do too much except for talk to Sean & Scott, and maybe one or two other people. Ends up, there was one person I spent most of my time talking to. She is a friend of Sean, but didn't know anybody else who was there ... so since we kinda introduced ourselves to each other before anyone else showed up for it, we kinda knew each other and spent a lot of time talking.
I don't think I've ever used talking about RPGs to break the ice with someone like that before. I'm sure I've never been in a situation quite like this before either.
Turns out she likes RPGs (eee!), with a preference to wizard/mage characters (EEEEE! ^_^). Since my D&D group is apparently losing two people (I knew we were losing Sean, tonight was the first I'd heard of someone else moving away....) and she liked RPGs but had no play group at the moment, I invited her to come and join us at our sessions. She agreed and we swapped emails/msn contact info.
So sometime this week we should be contacting each other so that she can come join us for our next D&D session next weekend.
*ahem*
