Best albums of 2009

This list is compiled out of the Albums of the Year lists which have appeared in Mojo, Uncut and Q magazines and by Rough Trade stores. The ones at the top of the list appeared in every individual publication's list; the ones at the very top appeared very high up in them ( Read more... )

Can't believe Mumford are so low, it's a stunner!!

It's opinions of the various publications - you know, you always see their '50 best albums of 2009' lists at the end of the year. This is compiled together out of those. The reason the Mumford album is so 'low' (though bearing in mind how many albums are released in a year it's good to get onto any of these things) is that it was only featured in Rough Trade's list; and at number 38 on there.

Most of the most obviously 'chart' albums [Cheryl Cole/Jack Penate] on the list were only rated by Q magazine, natch.

Ah yeah, I know what you mean!

In fairness, the charts mean bugger all unless you're pop-tarted-cheese...well, the majority of the time and so it doesn't really matter.

Glad it's in Rough Trade's list though, I've got a feeling their gigs next year are going to be a massive moment for them! Sad to see what's gradually happened to Q over the last 5-10 years to be honest, they have no opinion anymore!
