RANDOM CARTOONS, BITCH!

Mar 11, 2009 20:58

I know we all love Pen Ward and Tv's Kyle. But I'm gonna blabber on about  the lesser known Aliki Theofilopoulos of Random!Cartoons today.

Aliki has done two shorts for random!cartoons that I want to see more of "Yaki and Yumi", and "Girls on the Go!"

Yaki and Yumi just completely blew my mind. The shows entire look is just so much fun! Have a gander ( Read more... )

It's always great to have a cartoon that doesn't go with all the old clichés and gives audiences something fresh as opposed to the other worn-out characters and scenarios, which usually end up more popular anyway. I blame schools. For teaching kids to be stupid and socially awkward. Or was that just me? :(

And you're listening to Flight of the Conchords, which means I love you more than I did before, and that was a lot.

Guh...see my rant about the abomination that is 6teen a few entries back if you want to hear about worn-out characters and scenarios...

But yes. I like my cartoons like I like my feminine products - fresh. <3

Dude - Flight of the Conchords is the best two man-band to be featured on HBO in the history of the world (sorry Tenacious D...you're a close second! <3)

I did. It resulted in me hitting my head on something whilst laughing at the well-written truth I was facing. Good times.

Lulz. I like my feminine products with funny names. I mean, Always isn't a funny name. It's incredibly disappointing.

I concur wholeheartedly. Not that long ago I was forcing the lyrics of The Prince of Parties upon my friend in my form class and I found out that my form tutor likes them, so now I can make references knowing that someone'll get it, which is always awesome. And once he played Robots before our History masterclass. Tee hee hee. <3

Lawl, I'm not that funny. XD

I'm a tampax pearl fan myself. ;)

I taught myself how to play "Albi the Racist Dragon" and the "Rhymenocerous vs. the Hiphopopotomous" on the guitar. My friends and I can't get enough of them kooky boys <3

My painting teacher last semester listened to them as well, but unfortunately, he was also a huge asshole. :(

Thank you, from Aliki Theofilopoulos Grafft anonymous March 4 2010, 18:36:08 UTC
Hi there, I just came across this entry you wrote about a year ago. I wanted to say thank you for being a fan of the shorts. G.O.T.G was written for girls like you (us) and I am so glad you were able to relate. I agree that it could use a new title too. Anyways..I hope you continue pursuing animation..your drawings are quite wonderful. Maybe one day, a studio will pick up my show..,I just keep hearing "girls don't watch cartoons, so we are not going to produce a girls cartoon". It has been a dream of mine to make a show for girls that isn't about rainbows and unicorns...Maybe you will accomplish this yourself.

You are completely awesome, and so get it. I have high hopes for you! Go out there and do it girl...and if you are ever in L.A, or would like a tour of the studio, you look me up! ( I work at Disney TV as a story artist and writer on Phineas and Ferb.) Here is a recent article about it, for "Women's History Month" http://www.timeforkids.com/TFK/kids/wr/article/0,28391,1968686,00.html
Is your email on this site? If so, point me to it, and I will email you my contact info.
Incidentally, the executive who greenlit my short WANTED to do a cool girl show (Fred Seibert), but it is the studios that would not put it to series. (Dora, and Rainbow Brite is for preschoolers)

Oh my gosh, thank you! And while I'm on the east coast now, I'm certain I'll end up in LA eventually and then I'll certainly pay you a visit! ;)

Aw, that was such a cool article! I'm glad you're as happy as you are with your job - makes me feel like I'm going in the right direction after all :)

My email is dixiech1ck3n@gmail.com , or you can find me on my sketch blog http://cartoonantics.blogspot.com/

Ah, ok then, my mistake. But still, I hope the show gets picked up...there ARE girls out there who would love to watch it, despite what the studio says.
