Rough Draft Reminder (1 of 4)

Jan 04, 2012 18:04

Thanks to everyone who filled out the last poll. Sadly, I evidently fail at posting reminders!

So let's try this -- I'll push back the schedules so that everything falls on the last day of the month. The rough draft deadline is now January 31st, and I'll post one reminder every week. Submission instructions are over here. So yes...

You can also switch the theme of this community so that it still uses the old style of comment. Though I don't know how long that will last.

Thank you for the extension. The holidays have eaten my brain!!!

Ah yeah, that's a good suggestion. I don't think I'll need S2 styles for this comm (since the commenting system isn't used very much), but if I do, I'll switch to a custom comment layout.

And no problem. The holidays clearly ate my brain too...

Jan. 31 works muuuuuch better, thank you! ;____; It's a lot harder to write on break.

As for Dreamwidth - I haven't made an account over there yet, but for the moment I don't really see much reason to, if this particular comm doesn't use subject headers very often. I know it's a huge problem for RP games and the like, though, and maybe people will just want to all move to the same site and be done with it? Idk.

It's very hard to do anything on break, I found out. *sigh*

And yeah, I too am sort of just waiting to see what happens to my flist. I'm just worried that, because the RP segment of LiveJournal was hit pretty hard, lots of people left/will leave. DDD: But I don't know, doesn't seem like there's been a mass exodus yet.

Agreeing with everyone else. This comm doesn't really rely on subject lines, and you can switch over to a style with custom comment pages if it is a big deal. BUT I do think that with a lot of people moving over to DW, there is no harm in setting up a mirror over there.

Hm, yeah, good point. I'll see what I can do about setting up a DW mirror. Hopefully shouldn't be too much extra work?

I'm not sure about communities, but I know you can crosspost from a personal DW to a personal LJ. If that option is available it would be quite helpful.

I have a Dreamwidth account already, so I can help out with invite codes if people want. I'm not pushed either way, though for all the complaining I'm not seeing a lot of people *actually* moving to Dreamwidth. Just threatening to and working around.

Certainly, though, THANK YOU for the extension. My fic is laughing at me.

Thanks! Although I hear Dreamwidth has extended their open sign-up period which is awesome. :]

And yeah, I know what you mean -- seems like most people are using workarounds or otherwise dealing with the changes. But as a mod, I hate the removal of subject lines and, worse, the random DDOS outages LJ has been having for the past year. It's like a nightmare for me when running other communities. Also, as a mod, I'm loving how certain coveted usernames are still untaken on Dreamwidth, haha. I'm just here on the fence waiting to see which site ends up being more conducive to fandom overall -- LJ with its outages and borked comment system or Dreamwidth with its tiny membership...

Anyway, no problem! Hope you're able to finish your fic! :)
