I love idol industry meta, and you say so much here! the hierarchy among trainees, how age gets polluted with training time and debut potential, the type of environment where youth is the competitive edge and growing older is a liability. AND I'M SO FOND OF THIS KIND OF LUKAI DYNAMIC, where lu han adapts so easily to the idol lifestyle (laughing at jokes in korean and then turning around in the next moment to translate in chinese - such a perfect image & example *__*) while jongin has all the raw talent and power but has to carefully ease out the persona. I really enjoyed reading this! ♥
Ahhh thank you for reading! My heart grows warm every time I see your comment hahaha. ♥ It seems that whenever I think about canon!fic, I end up going on a tangent about k-pop industry meta. /o\ But I honestly find it really fascinating, this whole industry banking on beauty and entertainment value of incredibly similar formula and recipes, turning the idea of an idol into some kind of illustrious career young children dream of. When I think about EXO in canon!fic I always end up thinking "BUT WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO BE AN IDOL???" lol. The complex dynamic of the trainees in a company is something I find really fascinating as well, because it's basically the groundwork for what we see today, yet so much of it is obscured by either PR or nasty rumours. Lu Han is certainly an adaptable child, while Kai seems like he's had to really work at being likable. It's the differences in their personalities, and that's why I really enjoy it when they kind of... hesitantly... reach out to each other irl... /o

mmmm I just did a wonderful little binge on all your writing, and I really love your writing *____* I love how all your drabbles are set in-canon, how you constantly throw these themes of age and stardom and where the line between idol and trainee and human is. From your first fic (glory days) to that last fic you wrote about luhan and jongin on the subway, you do such wonderful things with, just, characterizing Lu Han and Jongin in very subtle ways. I love how you never make light of their ages, how it puts them on different tracks in life, like in Glory Days how Lu Han is finally settling into an apartment and here, Jongin learning about heartbreak in a way Lu Han must already understand. I love that your themes carry over, like Lu Han's floundering between Beijing and Seoul in Glory Days, and how you bring that back when he watches Jongin lurch out of the subway, wishing his heart beat with one city

Ahhh thank you!! ;; I'm honestly shocked and amazed that someone would like these random drabble things this much and put so much thought into such an in-depth comment! ;; Seriously, I never expected anyone... would... care... about these very short snapshots. Truthfully these were all supposed to be part of a bigger thing, panning LuKai's history from the first meeting to their post-EXO era, but I couldn't find the right mindset for that story, so it was broken up into small pieces like this. That's why all the canon drabbles are connected in some way, and there's kind of an overarching theme and feeling to them (like you pointed out: age, stardom, being a child of two cities, the connection between idol & the real self, as well as jealousy and ambition). Lu Han floundering between two cities is something I imagine echoes with a lot of people, but it also sets him apart from the other Chinese members in the group. I've always got the feeling that Lu Han is more disconnected from his hometown than the rest of Chinaline

This was really good. I read it twice. I like how you tie the themes together with words and bits of social reality. I could actually see this happening.
Thank you so much for reading and commenting! ♥ It's just an imaginative reworking of k-pop meta, but I'm glad the canon aspect of it works for you. ;;
Haha it isn't so fancy or beautiful but really, thank you, and I'm happy the LuKai dynamic works for you. ;; I'll never get tired of the lovely comments. ;;
