Oh you really know how to build anticipation. Most of the chapter I was in the edge of the chair waiting for them to meet, and to hear what Luke has to tell Han. It was interesting how Han was overwhelmed by what he saw and heard and understood why 'Luke might see his own hopes and desires as insignificant in the overall picture presented'. And yet he wasn't intimidated enough to let Luke go 'without a fight'. :)
I think Han has had a bit of a turn-about, because his first instinct, before all this happened, was that whatever Luke chose to do, he wouldn't stand in his way. But once he starts to step aside from that, he sees the possibility that Luke may make a decision based on unfounded insecurity, and Han is not prepared to let that happen.
It's much more difficult for him once he sees what Luke is up against, and doesn't yet know that Luke sees it all very differently.
