Chapter 1 ♫ Chapter 2 ♫

Lee Sungmin is back at the hospital for some lab tests. To be honest, Sungmin doesn’t like hospitals. They’re always white - the walls, the floors, the workers’ uniforms, the doors, the curtains.

It'll be better if the hospital has a touch of pink. Sungmin giggles at his own thought.

Also, he doesn’t like the smell of the hospital - medicine. The whiteness and the stench of medicine give him shivers. Another thing that makes him feel uncomfortable in hospitals is the time. He doesn’t like waiting in a long line and a long time, it is boring and tiring.

But… there is one reason- only one… that makes him feel good at the hospital. A kind and handsome pharmacist whom he met a couple days ago. He wonders: will he meet him again? This time he doesn’t have any excuse to go to the pharmacy section. He didn’t meet the doctor this day. He only came for a medical checkup at the laboratory so he didn’t get any prescription.

Suddenly, Sungmin thinks of a way... I can buy some vitamins there. I don’t need any prescription to buy them.

And he goes to the pharmacy section with a bright smile.

---------------------------------------

It was a hell of a day for Cho Kyuhyun. That morning, he was scolded by the Head Officer of the Pharmacy for some missing drugs. And even with that not-too-nice start at the beginning of his work, Kyuhyun has to put up a nice face in front of the patients who are all waiting for their medicines. His pharmacy assistants are not helping either; they keep on committing mistakes in preparing the medicine. One of them took the wrong medicine, one of them gave the medicine to the wrong patient because the patients have the similar name, and another mistakenly wrote the label of the drugs. They are lucky enough to have Kyuhyun who always check on them. The medication errors were prevented, only leaving Kyuhyun weary and tired. Kyuhyun tried to correct the pharmacy assistants in all ways he could, trying his best not to offend them. And, as if all of those matters were not enough, the patients are even bitching about many things to him.

“What took you so long in preparing my medicines? Don’t you know that I have a lot of important business to take care of? And now I have to wait for hours?” an angry man clothed in a very expensive business suit pounds on a table in the pharmacy counter, right in front of Kyuhyun.

Well, you are just exaggerating sir, it was only a matter of minutes. Kyuhyun wants to say that but he just can’t. His job bans him from saying those kinds of sentences. Instead, he puts a smile on his face and respectfully answers the man while bowing,

“I’m sorry for the delay, sir. Your medicine is being prepared now.”

“Yeah, it’ll better be ready!! Hah, you all are too slow!!! I’ll write a complaint after this!!!” the arrogant man says in cocky tone.

Kyuhyun can only let out a soft sigh. He is used to face all kinds of people. Then, another patient, an old woman in a long, blue dress, comes nagging at him,

“How can I eat this? The tablet is too big for me. Do you want to make me choke to death??”

A typical of old-nagging-people. Kyuhyun has to calm her down, apologize to her, and tell her that they will split the tablet into the smaller ones (but the old woman has to eat 2 capsules each time she takes them).

It’s not like Kyuhyun hates the annoying patients. He loves all the patients. He knows that they all have their own reason to act like that. But why must they all come to grumble at him on this day? It seems like all people have a confederation to murder him mentally with those problems. Kyuhyun isn’t ready for that, not today...

Then suddenly, as if God hears his unspoken wish to set him free from all the stress, his eyes meet a familiar cute figure. The angelic face that shows up to him at that moment magically enlighten his blue mood. Kyuhyun unconsciously forms a genuine smile on his handsome face. He sees the said person approach the counter and ordered some vitamin to one of his assistants, and an idea just runs through his smart brain. When the said person’s medicine is ready, Kyuhyun takes it and calls out the patient’s name.

“Mr. Lee Sungmin”

Hearing his name being called, Sungmin quickly approaches the pharmacy counter. When Sungmin’s eyes meet him, Kyuhyun can see the excitement on the smaller man.

It’s just me or he also feels the same excitement of our meeting?

“Sungmin-shii, it’s nice to meet you again,” Kyuhyun gives a warm smile while greeting him.

Sungmin doesn’t answer, he only nods and blushes a little. This kind of cute action makes Kyuhyun more interested in him.

“So, Sungmin-shii, you came to take your medicine, right?”

“Yes.”

“Have you paid it?”

“I have.”

“Well, I’m sorry but I can’t give it to you now.”

Sungmin’s big round eyes widen in confusion, “W-what??? B-but...why???”

“Because...” Kyuhyun leans closer to the smaller man, “I want to have lunch with you today, and I’ll give it to you later after you accompany me. This medicine is a guaranty that you won’t run away from me,” the good-looking pharmacist ends his sentences with a wink.

Sungmin is startled with what just happened. He didn’t think that the charming man in front of him could do such a thing… flirting. Not that he is complaining because he is honestly amused of it. His cheeks now turn into crimson. Sungmin gives a slight nod, hiding his pink cheeks in the process, and goes back to the waiting area.

Lunch time came and Kyuhyun and Sungmin make their way to the canteen. Kyuhyun is the first one to break the silence.

“Sungmin-shii, did my deed annoy you? I’m sorry for it then...” Kyuhyun apologizes.

“No, no... It’s okay, Kyuhyun-shii... I’m just wondering...” Sungmin can’t finish his question, he doubts whether to ask it or not, but he is very curious about the man beside him.

“Yes?”

“Do you always do this thing to all the patients you meet in this hospital?”

“This thing? What thing?”

“This. What we are doing now. Eat together.”

Kyuhyun chuckles at the honest and pure question, “I’ve never ask another patient to eat with me.”

“Do you mean...?”

“If my memory doesn’t fail me, you are the first one, and until now, the only patient that I’ve forced to accompany me,” Kyuhyun grins deviously.

Once again, Kyuhyun succeeded in flattering Sungmin with his words. Kyuhyun doesn’t know what is happening exactly at that time. What he knows is that Sungmin’s smile can bring peace into his heart, his kind and innocent actions make Kyuhyun’s tiredness go away. His bad mood is replaced by a fresh spirit to finish his job that day. Kyuhyun likes it. He likes being near to Sungmin, and Sungmin does too.

And then it becomes a routine. Every time Sungmin comes to Seoul Hospital, he always spends his lunch time with Kyuhyun. He will pop out at the pharmacy section during lunch break. Sungmin finds himself craving for his new hobby at the hospital. Kyuhyun is addicting, just like drugs; his smile is contagious, making Sungmin smile as well; his deep voice is calming, making Sungmin feels secure every time Kyuhyun sometimes give him pieces of advice in taking care of his own body.

Maybe it's because Kyuhyun is a pharmacist who is always dealing with drugs, that gives him has the same characteristic like the drugs: addicting.

On their fourth “lunch date”, Kyuhyun asks him to drop the formality.

“I want to be your friend. Just call me by my name, will you? Sungmin?” and Kyuhyun gave him his breathtaking smile.

Sungmin is very delighted accepting the offer, “I will… Kyuhyun.”

And by that, they become closer each day and every time they meet they’ll learn new things from each other. Kyuhyun will talk about his day in the hospital- the pleasant things and the unpleasant ones. Sungmin will talk about many things too, his job, his friends, his cousin. They enjoy each other’s company and by the fifth day, they exchange phone numbers.

---------------------------------------

The cold wind blow strongly, hitting Sungmin’s petite body. He is shivering. Sungmin sits on a nearby bench staring at the dark. The sun has set three hours ago. There was only darkness but Sungmin could care less about what’s happening. What he cares for now is how to ease the painful feeling in his heart and mind. He can still remember every word that came out of Dr. Jung’s mouth, breaking his hope into tiny little pieces, scattering it all over the space.

Broken. Maybe that simple word could describe Sungmin’s condition right now. He needs someone to share the burden. A name comes to his mind. Zhou Mi...

Ever since he was a little boy, Zhou Mi was always there to listen to him- every secret, every hope, every regret. They have always been there for each other- each other’s guardian angel.

He reaches for his pocket and lets out a pink hand phone. He presses some buttons and a familiar name shows on the screen.
Mimi :D
He is ready to press the ‘call’ button but he stops his finger right before it’s too late.

No, I can’t tell him. If Mimi will know about it, my family will find out too. No, I don’t want to make them worry.

Sungmin is depressed. He really needs someone right now. He needs a company. Someone who will just sit beside him, give him comfort and make him feels that he’s not alone. He presses more buttons and a simple message flashed.

‘Kyuhyun, are you busy right now?’

---------------------------------------

Kyuhyun is ready to go home. His work time is over. He is gathering his stuff when his hand phone rings. He takes it up from his pocket and reads the screen.

‘One new message’

He opens the message and then a grin appears on his handsome face. He paced his steps and headed out of the hospital. He presses some more buttons. Thirty minutes later, he arrives at the park; his eyes searches for a certain figure and sees it on a bench. His angelic face is facing the night sky, admiring the bright stars, twinkling beautifully as if giving him a wink.

A silly question comes to Kyuhyun mind. Is he really an angel, who came from the heavens?

Kyuhyun smiles at himself, enjoying the beautiful scenery in front of him. He walks slowly, not wanting to disturb the smaller man. He sits beside Sungmin quietly, and the latter turns his gaze to his new friend, and smiles gently.

“So Sungmin, missing me much, huh?” Kyuhyun teases him.

“Kyuhyun, you meannie,” a playful slap is given to Kyuhyun’s arm.

“So what is it about?”

“Uhm...nothing... It’s just... I just...need a company...” Sungmin looks up at the twinkling stars once more.

Kyuhyun sees the sadness on his friend’s face. He doesn’t like it, so he tries to start another conversation, “Sungmin, I didn’t see you in the hospital today. How was your day? How was your work?”

“The work was fun,” Sungmin answers but not moving his stare from the bright skies, “and I did come to the hospital...” the last sentence sounds like a whisper.

“Really? Why didn’t I see you then?”

“I met Dr. Jung after I finished my work. It was already evening. And I went home right after that...”

“What did Yunho-hyung said? Oh, Dr. Jung I mean...” Kyuhyun accidentally spells his close friend’s nickname.

Sungmin doesn’t answer and instead, he bends his head down. A tint of sorrow can be seen right after that question. And Kyuhyun knows he asked the wrong question.

“Sungmin...” Kyuhyun puts his right palm on Sungmin’s left shoulders.

The simple touch of Kyuhyun sends Sungmin to the edge of his feeling. Sungmin has tried to control his tears, and he has succeeded not to let a single drop out of his eyes for the past hours since he got out from Dr. Jung Yunho’s room at the hospital. But Sungmin couldn’t stop it anymore. He bites his lower lip and closes his eyes in attempt to hold back his tears, to no avail, because it only makes his tears rolling down his soft cheeks.

Seeing the scene, Kyuhyun automatically pulls Sungmin’s body to his own, places the petite body in his chest, hugs him and pats his back gently. Sungmin melts with the action. He allowed himself to cry. He grips Kyuhyun’s shirt, holding it tight as if Kyuhyun is the only thing to hold on in the world. Kyuhyun doesn’t mind it at all.

Kyuhyun wants to say ‘it’s alright’ or ‘everything will be okay’ but he can’t do it, he doesn’t want to give fake hope to his friend. Observing Sungmin on that state, he guesses that Sungmin has an issue with his health.

I have to talk to Yunho-hyung or see Sungmin’s MR soon. He makes a note to himself.

Kyuhyun knows at that moment that Sungmin doesn’t need any words of comfort. He knows that sometimes, words aren’t needed… a shoulder to cry on would be enough as a friend to rely on. So Kyuhyun could only continue his action, no word exited his lips.

Sungmin’s cries turns into sobs, and soon turns into sniffles. When Kyuhyun feels that his friend has calmed down, he brave himself to offer comfort.

“Do you know that I have a good voice? I’ve won some singing contest when I was a kid. Want to hear one of my favorite songs?” Kyuhyun knows it’s not the right time to talk about Sungmin’s sickness, so he offers another thing. A simple thing that he thinks will give Sungmin composure, even in just a short time.

Sungmin nods, face still buried in Kyuhyun’s chest.

Sungmin felt an utter calmness inside him that he immediately fell asleep after Kyuhyun’s melodious lullaby. Kyuhyun can feel Sungmin’s steady breath and constant heartbeat. He looked down and smiled in contentment. He then caressed Sungmin’s face gently and whispered,

"I promise you I’ll help you through this..."

---------------------------------------

Kyuhyun walks Sungmin home. It is nearing midnight when they reach the latter’s apartment. They are greeted by an angry Zhou Mi on the front door.

“Hyung, where have you been? You scared me to death! Why can’t I contact you? Why did your phone out of reach?” Zhou Mi yells in frustration.

“I... I’m sorry Mimi, the battery is out--" Sungmin can’t finish his sentence because Zhou Mi cut him off.

“Where.have.you.been?!?!” Zhou Mi glares at him.

Sungmin opens his mouth to answer but he can’t form a word, he closes his mouth and opens it again but still no word out from him.

“He was with me,” Kyuhyun suddenly answers for him, “I’m so sorry about it. Next time I’ll make sure to let you know.”

Zhou Mi didn’t realize that there is someone else standing in his front door, he was too focused on his cousin. He looks at the strange guy suspiciously.

“Oh, let me introduce you both,” Sungmin says, “Mimi, this is Cho Kyuhyun, he is a pharmacist on Seoul Hospital, the hospital that I got my check up a while ago. Kyuhyun, this is Zhou Mi, he is my cousin.”

Kyuhyun lets out his hand to Zhou Mi and the latter accepted.

“It’s nice to meet you, Zhou Mi-shii,” Kyuhyun says warmly.

“Nice to meet you too,” Zhou Mi says flatly.

Sungmin feels the uncomfortable situation so he forces himself to speak, “Err..Mimi, I think we should go inside now? It’s already late at night. I guess Kyuhyun wants to go home too.”

“You are right, hyung. Kyuhyun-shii thank you for accompanying my cousin.”

“My pleasure,” Kyuhyun turns to look at Sungmin, “See you next time, Sungmin. Have a good rest tonight.” He smiles to Sungmin and bows a little to Zhou Mi, before he vanishes.

Zhou Mi fixes his stare back to his cousin and sighs, “Let’s talk about this tomorrow. We need to sleep now.”

Sungmin nods and follows his cousin into the apartment.

---------------------------------------

Zhou Mi is restless. He doesn’t like the reality that his cousin has been attracted to someone. He doesn’t like that every time Sungmin gets back from the hospital; he always has a bright expression on his face. And almost every night, Sungmin will talk about the great Cho Kyuhyun, a pharmacist who caught his attention. Zhou Mi is not used to it. All this time, it was only him and Sungmin. No one ever came between them before.

Why do I have this thought? Zhou Mi speaks to himself. Oh yes, I’m just afraid that Sungmin hyung won’t care about me anymore when he finds a boyfriend. I’m just jealous because my hyung is start loving someone else. But Sungmin hyung won’t ignore me, will he? Even when he has a lover, he will still love me as his brother, right?

Zhou Mi couldn’t sleep. He groans in annoyance and the thought of his hyung and his soon-to-be-lover disturbed him a lot. Suddenly, he has this kind of urge to get near to his beloved cousin and he wants to cuddle him, to feel the warm touch of Sungmin that he sure will give him assurance.

Zhou Mi steps out his room slowly, heading to his hyung’s bedroom. He raises his hand to knock on the door; he hesitates for a while, unsure of what he is doing right now.

Am I that childish? Come to think, the last time we slept in the same bed was like...10 years ago??

He turns his body, ready to leave the inviting door, but he can’t move his leg even. He frowns.

Ah, screw this! I don’t want to pass another sleepless night. I need him... NOW! And he turns back to face the door again.

Soft knocks can be heard on Sungmin’s bedroom door. Sungmin, with his sensitive ears, heard that and lazily headed to the door.

“Mimi, why don’t you go to sleep yet? Do you need something from me?” Sungmin asks in his sleepy voice and half-opened eyes. He yawns.

“I’m just... Uhumm, can I... Eerm, sleep with you tonight?” Zhou Mi bites his lower lip as he stares into Sungmin’s eyes. His expression showing that he desperately needs a ‘yes’ from his cousin.

Sungmin rubs his eyes, getting rid of his sleepy state so he would face his younger cousin properly. Then he smiles gently to the taller man, “Do you miss auntie and uncle?”

Zhou Mi doesn’t answer and just faces the floor. How can he say that? How can he say that… no, he doesn’t miss his parents, instead he misses him, the one whom he is talking to right at the moment. But Sungmin takes the gestures as a silent ‘yes’ answer. The older pulls Zhou Mi inside the room and closes the door.

“It’s okay, Mimi. Sometimes I also miss umma and appa. But we will visit them during the holidays, won’t we? We just have to wait for two months. For now, let’s go to sleep. We need to rest… Tomorrow will be a hectic day,” Sungmin says as he goes to his bed, lying down there and makes a space so his cousin can lie beside him.

Zhou Mi eagerly sneaks into the thick blanket. He positions himself right beside his cousin, comfortably and wraps an arm around his hyung’s tiny waist. Sungmin hugs him back and says a sweet ‘good night’ before he nuzzles his head below Zhou Mi’s chin. Soon, Zhou Mi can feel the steady breath of his hyung, signaling that the said man has already gone to his dreamland.

Zhou Mi was wrong. He estimated that he would find peace if he spend the night with Sungmin. But what is that he felt now? His heart beats faster than usual. Sungmin’s warmth and his scent strained him. He is very confused. He never felt this way before. It is worse than his sleepless night.

What the hell is happening with me?!?!?

Zhou Mi pulls away slightly. He gazes down at his hyung’s beautiful face. His long fingers work on its own desire, brushing a few strands of hair from his Sungmin’s face, tracing Sungmin’s face from his forehead to his cheek, and his lips. He never knew that Sungmin’s pouting lips are very soft. He touches them over and over again that unconsciously lead him to give a quick peck on those lips.

He is surprised on what he had done. He shooks his head.

Zhou Mi, you must be crazy. His own mind reminds him.

Not wanting to think about it anymore, he closes his eyes and hugs his hyung once more. He is enjoying the moment when he is able to have Sungmin in his arms, only his.

---------------------------------------

Zhou Mi needs something to refresh his mind after what he had done to his hyung the previous night. So he goes to the mall the next day, after work. He strodes around the mall in a happy mood, and suddenly he sees a pair of teenagers arguing. He stops his step and looks at them from afar, not too far but enough space so the couple won’t notice that they are being watched.

“Stop acting like a child! I don’t like it!” a young girl, a high school student Zhou Mi guesses, yells to a young boy next to her.

“You made me do that. It’s your fault,” the young boy answers stubbornly.

“My fault? Whaaaattt?” the girl hisses.

“Yes, your fault. You get too close to him,” he emphasizes the word ‘too’.

“Why are you acting like this?”

“It’s obvious. Because I love you! I don’t want anyone to touch you. Not in that intimate scene. You are my girlfriend, not his.”

The girl softened her expression, “I’m sorry,” she sighs, “Let’s just forget about this, okay? I won’t do it again. Well, not as that intimate... Forgive me?”

The boy huggs his girlfriend tight, “I love you. I’m sorry for being a jerk...”

The girl huggs him back and giggles, “I love you too.”

That scene kicks Zhou Mi into reality. He realizes it now. He loves his hyung. Of course he loves him as a brother since a long time ago. But this kind of love is different. He loves him in a romantic way. Yes, he loves him so much. That’s why he has this weird feeling every time he hears his hyung talks about another man. He is jealous! He doesn’t want to share his hyung with the other. No, his hyung is too precious for him.

Zhou Mi runs back to his apartment. He is grinning like an idiot along the way home.

I love you, I love you, I love you! Sungmin hyung, I love you so much! Those words pop out in his head every time. He needs to tell Sungmin soon. No, not soon. He needs to tell him now. It makes his long legs swing faster to his destination.

When Zhou Mi reaches his apartment, he immediately gets in, looking for the familiar figure he wanted so much too meet at that time. He sees the said man sitting on the couch playing his guitar. Zhou Mi is breathless but he doesn’t care. He knows what he wants and that makes his grin wider.

“Mimi? Why are you catching your breath? What happened?” Sungmin talks in concern.

The taller man came closer to Sungmin, standing in front of him and looking down to his dearest cousin, “Hyung... I... I think...” he tries his best to calm down and catches his breath, “I love... I love you... I love you so much”
