Tough call..The Anti-yankee in me would want the safe call, but the umpire in me says out!

The best replay view was from the center field camera. Same angle Johnson had. Another great call. Pettis is a punk.

Great call. Did you see AJ move into position? Like how the announcers were impressed. Only wish we could have seen the hook.

thanks! Really pleased with that pic. AJ used to work at the same park that I do, and a lot of the more tenured guys know him, so I posted that on my facebook page.

He's actually a really nice guy. When we had our advanced clinic in January, he dropped off two of his used game jerseys that were given to the two best performers at the camp.

In frame by frame, the ball is still visible when the base can be seen being compressed by the runners foot. Challenge.

This ruling has been challenged.

After review, the Quality of Correctness has been upheld. The call is now correct.

Upon initial examination, the out call appeared to be correct.

Upon further examination, including examination of the replay and real-time play, the determination of upholding the original Quality of Correctness was made. Upon further consultation of the initial play, it appears the first basemen possessed the ball before the foot of the runner touched first base. Using a frozen frame ( http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/8828/adrianfirstejection.jpg ), along with the replay, shows that the out call was correct as the ball is in the glove of the first basemen. At this moment, the toe of the runner was in the air and the heel of the runner on the ground, which was not in contact with first base. The call is in no way obvious, nor can any video evidence be found to reverse the call, nor find it inconclusive.

Denied.

Is every call this year going to be challenged, just for the sake of it?

Like, did I miss the memo where the winner of the league gets a new car or something?
