How much does your past effect you?

Do you feel that any damage previously done, especially in the subject of relationships, can be undone with positive thought?

My past will always be a big part of who I am. The good and the bad help shape who I am today.

But do you feel as though you can control the way that it shapes you?

That's my question.

I understand that we all have experiences, good and bad, that define who we are essentially... but if you think, they often surface without discretion.

Of course people can control how their experiences effect them, if they have the conviction and the intelligence. I don't know you extremely well, but I'd venture to say you have both.

I'm surprised you're even asking the question.
Don't let anything, especially yourself, hold you back Casey. Dammit.

No.

Totally not what I'm referring to.

I'm reading House of Leaves and it's inspiring though, that's all.

Just curious to see how people respond.

I'm glad that was a misunderstanding.

1. house of leaves is sooo good.
2. yes people can control how their past affects them, but a lot of the time they don't know it. usually people let it control them and then let it ruin their relationships.
been there. done that.

i think that a lot of times people use previous failures and bad experiences as excuses. they keep themselves blind to the fact that they could move on, because they want to hold on to those excuses. its their comfort zone.
