Title: Burning
His body shook.
Breaking out into a cold sweat, the words "I'm sorry" rolled off of his tongue. Eyes full of tears, he begged for a few more seconds of life. His insides were engulfed in a heavy guilt, only further delaying him from playing the game.
He had the pliers in his hand and he heard the clock ticking, but he had also heard his wife crying.
His head hung low, too heavy to lift it again and look his lover in the eyes. She's screaming, even intensifying the pain in his head. She's screaming the name that might be in the obituaries by the end of the night.
He had never wanted this. He had never deserved this.
Not only had he lied, but he had flown too close to the sun. The wings he crafted from lies began to burn away and melt off onto his own bubbling skin, blistering and sizzling to remind him of what he had done.
As many times as he told himself he has visualized this nightmare perfectly, he's realizing just how wrong he really was.
This is what a true nightmare felt like.
He cries a little more, squeezing the pliers in his sweating palms. A thin glaze of sweat coats his forehead. With one last exhale, he closes his trembling eyes that wont stop dripping true tears of apprehension.
That was when Bobby Dagen began to rip out his own teeth.
