Less owie now

On Wednesday I finally pestered gedhrel  into telling me when everyone was going bouldering. When I got there tigerpixie  was a bit surprised to see me, but kindly signed me in, and gave me the tour and introduction. The first traverse went really well, so I tried an easy ascent next. Everything was going fine until I came back down. tigerpixie  said that if I wanted to I could jump. I wussed out slightly, and climbed halfway back down, before hopping off.

I think I slipped when I pushed off with my left foot, and it went out from underneath me as I landed. As I fell I felt my knee twist and click, and it hurt a lot. As I landed, it clicked back again, but the pain still didn't go away. I believe I may have sworn a little as people came over to see if was ok. It took me a few minutes before I could sit up, and I decided that a trip to A&E might be a good idea. I remember apologising to the poor guy who had to fill out the accident book, while trying to project 'I'm not going to sue' vibes.

gedhrel  took me to casualty, and when I was told I'd probably be three hours, he kindly went and picked up azhacael . I actually got seen after about 2 1/2 hours, by a very nice nurse practitioner who was exceptionally cheerful while causing me agony. I was told that the lack of bruising suggested that it wasn't broken, but that because I couldn't bend it they wanted an x-ray to be sure. The bones are fine, but there was a lot of fluid in the joint, so I've got a physio appointment for a week on Monday, just to check it over.

Thursday it still didn't like bending, but hurt more if I didn't shift the position every so often. D&D was getting a bit tough towards the end, but I had a stool I could prop my leg on which helped. By Friday I could rest my foot on the ground when standing, but I couldn't put any wait on it while moving. I tried to go to the cash point, but had to give up and come back before I got the Sweet Mart. I was also slightly worried by the numbness in my left hand after using the crutches for a few minutes.

Today gigolohitman  and Purplefire took azhacael  and I to purplefire birthday in Bath. I was a little worried about making it from the carpark to the pub, but after a bit of experimentation I found I could actually put my left foot down and successfully imitate walking. I even made it back to the car afterwards with only two short rests.

After a very fun evening of games with gigolohitman  and Purplefire, along with misterwilson and George, my leg was feeling very still as gigolohitman gave us a lift home (3 6' blokes do not fit well in the back seat of a Ka!!). I hobbled home to bed, managing to climb the stairs in a fairly respectable manner, and only using 1 crutch. Unfortunately, as I lie here, my hands feel bruised, and I can feel my shoulders tightening. Its Vampire tomorrow night though, so I have to make sure I'm able to make that. This plan may require a lazy day, which would be awful!
