only if brendan were not there. he stuck his lighter into the black powder as i warned, 'no, no, brendan we did it this safe way' and then burnt himself when it poofed. then he explained he thought since we'd been fucking around with it, he could too. brendaaaan.

we also tried to burn pictures and words into paper by drawing with the black powder on top of paper and then lighting the powder. sadly, this does not work.
