She was in my bed, Charles-- that's hardly an ignorant position. [ He frowns, but has the decency to remain shamefacedly standing in the doorway. ] She came to me, not vice-versa.

[ If you continue talking to him like this, Erik, you're going to get the book thrown at you. Quite literally. ] I'm sorry, I'm pretty sure she didn't pin you down and have her way with you-- Erik.

It wasn't like that! [She retorts, her voice muffled from where she's standing on the other side of Erik against the wall, letting Erik stand between herself and her brother.]

[ Erik continues to stand uneasily between them; shifting his hands to his pockets. ] Look, I'm sorry, Charles-- it-- I didn't mean for it to go that far--[ He shifts, making as if to glance backwards at Raven, but thinking better of it and looking back to Charles. ]

[ Uncharacteristically his voice raises in pitch, snappish and unmistakably furious. ] That far? How bloody far did you expect to go? Was it okay to court my sister so long as you didn't screw her? You don't just accidentally have sex! [ His eyes snap to Raven then, gaze heated and lacking in the usual affection. ] And you, of all people. How. Dare. You.

[She wheels around Erik and pushes past him.] It just started out as talking but then it got past that and I don't know how that happened, but you know we wouldn't--Charles, [Her look turns pleading.] I'm sorry. Neither of us could stop ourselves and I don't know why. I would never hurt you like that. Never.

Raven. [ He barks, turning on her in a violently quick movement; head snapping around. ] You've done quiet enough damage for one day. [ Erik turns to Charles, countenance entirely different-- apologetic, and distinctly downcast. ] Charles-- I didn't know it was her-- it was-- she looked like you. I thought she was you. Charles, listen to me--[ Crossing the room, he gets ahold of the telepath's shoulders, looking him in the eye. ]

Don't-- [ He jerks back, physically and mentally, withdrawing himself from Erik's presence. He is so close to crying and just being near Erik is making it worse. ]

You wouldn't do it ever, except for the fact you did. Obviously I was wrong about this-- this-- whatever it was.

Me?? I'm not the only one here! You were there too! [She stares at Erik for a moment.] What?? I did not look like you, Charles! I didn't!

You weren't wrong! We were just stupid...I don't know how it happened. I wish I did. If I knew, maybe I could have stopped it from happening!

[ He opens his mouth for an indignant second-- turning to bare his teeth at her before snarling out-- ] You know exactly what you did, Raven, you were posed as your brother. [ Erik returns to Charles, closing the gap that the other man had enforced between them again. ]

Charles-- look at me, Charles-- you know full well how I feel for you; there never could be anyone else.

[ One of them had to be lying, and he honestly wasn't sure which-- he had promised not to push into anyone's minds but they had also made and broke their own silent promises with this. However-- part of him recoiled hard at the thought of looking into that memory, and so for now he just shook his head and kept himself from any physical contact. ]

I don't... I don't even know what to say to either of you right now.

I wasn't posing as anybody. I never changed! [She shrieks back.]

Look at how Erik is being, Charles! This isn't a man who would betray you. [She wouldn't either, but proving Erik's exclusivity to her brother seemed easier right now.]

[ Erik moves towards Charles again-- one hand extended to touch the other's elbow. ]

Charles, honestly, I would not do anything to hurt you-- she's lying; Charles-- look at me. [ Catching ahold of the telepath's elbow, he turns the man towards him. ] After everything-- how can you believe that I'd actively betray your trust?

[ After a few futile yanks to get his elbow away Charles finally caves; almost childlike in the nature of a dam breaking he settles into crying. The conflicting answers and the constant pressure of belief are a bit too much. ]

[ Erik steps towards the telepath-- glaring at Raven, then slipping an arm around his shoulders, his expression turning pained when Charles' composure slips. He speaks into the other man's hair--- ] Listen to me, Charles-- I would not lie to you. [ A loud exhalation of breath. ] It's alright, it's alright--[ He's a little lost as to how to handle this, because to his knowledge, he's telling the truth. ]
